Chapter 260
Alexander’s face twisted with rage as he saw Rain being carried off. This was exactly why he hadn’t wanted her to come, but she had insisted on being there. Now, his worst fear was unfolding before him.
Without a second thought, he threw a powerful kick at the man blocking his path, sending him crashing to the ground. All his focus zeroed in on one thing: getting Rain back.
“Everyone!” he shouted, his voice fierce. “Take down anyone in my way!” His men snapped into action, clearing a path with swift, brutal efficiency as they battled through the smoke-filled place.
Alexander pushed forward, barely noticing the sting of smoke in his eyes. All that mattered was closing the distance between him and Rain.
He pressed on, his eyes locked in the direction where Rain had disappeared. Shots rang out around him as he fired back at the men blocking his path. The crackle of flames and thickening smoke didn’t deter him, taking down anyone who dared to slow him.
As he neared the area where he’d last seen her, a large section of the ship collapsed in flames, sending debris crashing down. He dodged to the side, narrowly escaping as beams and metal fragments fell around him. Finally, through the smoke, he spotted Rain slumped in a man’s grip, still unconscious.
Alexander rushed forward, firing one last shot at the man holding her. The attacker fell, and Alexander hurriedly scooped Rain into his arms, cradling her protectively. Relief filled him as he felt her breathing, though faint.
Just then, Dina appeared and quickly snatched a gun from the floor, aiming directly at Rain.
“No!” Alexander shouted, trying to shield her.
A gunshot rang out, but it wasn’t Dina’s. Sanya grabbed a weapon from a fallen guard and fired at Dina. The shot hit Dina and she dropped the gun, collapsing with a stunned expression.
“Come on!” William yelled, grabbing Alexander’s arm and pulling him and Sanya toward the exit. The ship was groaning under the weight of the fire, pieces of metal and wood crashing down as they hurried to escape.
Together, with Rain in Alexander’s arms and William guiding the way, they raced out, stumbling into the open air just as the ship’s structure began to collapse behind them.
Sanya, now wrapped in William’s suit, hurried to Alexander’s side, her eyes widening in concern as she looked at Rain’s limp form in his arms.
“What happened? Why is she unconscious?” she asked, her voice wavering as she tried to ignore the pain throbbing through her own bruised body.
The memory of Dina aiming a gun at Rain flashed in her mind, and she felt a shudder. She’d been terrified of losing her friend, but thankfully, Rain had insisted on teaching her how to handle a gun at the shooting range. She managed to hit Dina before she fired her gun.
Alexander gave a faint nod, brushing strands of hair away from Rain’s face. “She’s okay. Just unconscious from whatever they used on her,” he murmured, his voice thick. He held her close, his hands shaking slightly. “For a moment, I thought I was going to lose her p>
He didn’t release his hold until paramedics arrived, followed closely by the police. With care, they loaded everyone into ambulances, rushing them to the hospital.
Meanwhile, William took charge of coordinating with authorities and briefing the officers on the situation. Soon after, Brandon arrived, taking over the logistics so William could join Sanya and the others at the hospital.
Inside the hospital room, Sanya sat on the examination table as nurses cleaned her wounds. She glanced up as William entered, his expression worried.
“How is she?” he asked the nearest nurse.
Sanya offered him a weak smile. “William… I’m fine. Just a few scratches,” she said, reassuring him. “But… what happened to Dina p>
“There’s no update yet, but no one left the ship, so she’s most likely dead if not from the gunshot wound then from the fire William speculated.
“That woman,” Sanya muttered angrily, her voice shaking. “She went to this extent just to get back at Rain. She’s so twisted!” She clenched her fists, her anger hiding the relief she felt.
She couldn’t help but think of the nightmare it would have been for her if William and the others hadn’t arrived in time. Tears welled up in her eyes, and her body began to tremble.
William stepped closer, wrapping her in a gentle hug. “You’re safe now,” he whispered. “I’m so sorry this happened. I should have done more to protect you. From now on, I’ll make sure you’re safe p>
Sanya managed a faint smile. “There’s no need now. Dina’s probably gone at this point p>
William nodded. “I’ve asked Brandon to handle everything and contain the situation. By now, he’s likely informed Dina’s parent of what happened p>
Sanya nodded, accepting his support. “Let’s go check on Rain,” she said, moving to stand. William helped her up, steadying her as they walked down the hall together.
When they entered Rain’s room, they found Alexander seated by her bedside, holding her hand as he stared at her.
“How is she?” Sanya asked softly.
Alexander didn’t look away from Rain. “The drug should wear off soon. She’ll wake up any minute now,” he replied, his grip tightening slightly on her hand.
Then he turned to Sanya and said, “Thank you for saving Rain p>
“It’s nothing,” Sanya replied with a soft smile. “Rain would do the same for me… Also, I should be the one thanking you and William for saving me p>
Just then, Rain stirred, her eyes fluttering open. She looked up at Alexander, dazed but alert. “Sanya? Where’s Sanya? Did we get her?” she asked in a rush.
“I’m right here,” Sanya said, stepping closer. Rain immediately pulled her into a tight hug, her voice breaking as she began to sob.
“I’m so sorry, Sanya. Dina did this because of me. I put you in danger,” Rain choked out.
“Shh,” Sanya whispered, patting her back. “This isn’t your fault. You’re just unlucky enough to have that crazy woman as a half-sister p>
Rain pulled back with a sigh of relief. “I’m just grateful nothing worse happened. And thank God for that tracker Clifford insisted on putting on our phones,” she added, her tone lightening.
Sanya laughed softly. “For once, I’m thankful for Clifford’s persistence p>
Their moment was interrupted as the door burst open. Sylvia stormed in, her eyes wild and filled with rage. “You liars!” she screamed, her eyes wide and wild. “You’ve framed my daughter! And now she’s dead because of you! Bring her back to me p>
