The next day, once Nina had finished her preparations, Ming and the others arrived to meet up with her.
After a quick assessment, Nina decided to leave Keil, Sal, Mino, Idir, and Dian behind to guard the house and protect the cubs. With her remaining beast-husbands and Ming’s group, she headed toward the City Lord’s mansion.
When they arrived, the guards at the entrance stopped them. “Who are you, and what is your business here p>
Ming stepped forward. “I am the City Lord of the Spirit Cat City. I have urgent matters to discuss with your City Lord. Please inform him of our arrival p>
Seeing their luxurious clothing, the guard didn’t dare be disrespectful. “I will go in and report. Please wait a moment p>
Inside the grand hall, Milt was in the middle of a meeting with the elders.
The guard entered and bowed. “City Lord, there is a beastman outside claiming to be the City Lord of Spirit Cat City. He says he has urgent business with you p>
“The City Lord of Spirit Cat City?” Milt muttered, confused. After a moment’s consideration, he waved his hand. “Let them in p>
The elders were equally perplexed. “What is the City Lord of Spirit Cat City doing here in our Serpent City? Could he be an impostor p>
“It’s fine. I recognize him. We’ll know soon enough,” Milt replied.
The guard then escorted Nina and her group into the hall.
When Milt and the elders saw Nina, their confusion deepened. Why was there a beautiful female with them? Milt scanned the group and noticed Taru and the others were present as well.
He looked at Ming. “To what do I owe the pleasure of a visit from so many City Lords p>
“We want to discuss the illness plaguing the beastmen in your city,” Ming stated directly.
The elders’ eyes lit up instantly. “Do you know what kind of illness it is p>
“Yes, I do.” Ming’s expression turned solemn. “It isn’t a normal illness. They have been poisoned p>
“What did you say? Poisoned p>
“How could it be poison? If it were, how could our witch doctors completely miss it p>
“Besides, how could so many beastmen be poisoned at the same time p>
The elders were stunned, their shock quickly giving way to skepticism. The Serpent Tribe’s witch doctors were the most skilled at crafting and curing poisons. How could they possibly fail to notice that their own people were poisoned?
“They are indeed poisoned, but it’s a slow-acting toxin, which is why your witch doctors failed to detect it,” Taru explained, stepping forward. “As for why so many have fallen ill, it’s because the poison was introduced into your water supply p>
“Impossible! If the water source was poisoned, why are we males completely fine p>
“Exactly! Our water supply is constantly guarded by powerful beastmen. How could anyone poison it so easily p>
Taru’s explanation only deepened the elders’ disbelief.
Milt rested his chin on his hand, silently observing Ming and his group.
Aron took a step forward. “Actually, you males are poisoned too. However, because your resistance to toxins is much stronger, you aren’t showing symptoms, and some of the poison has already been neutralized by your bodies. Females and cubs have weaker constitutions, which is why they can’t expel the toxin p>

“This is completely absurd p>
Several elders rejected the claim outright. They felt perfectly fine—how could they possibly be poisoned? These outsiders had to be talking nonsense. The remaining elders looked half-convinced but chose to stay silent.
Aron let out a cold snort. “Believe it or not, it’s up to you. It’s not the beastmen of our cities who are dying anyway p>
Ming and the others looked visibly cold. They had come out of the goodness of their hearts to help these stubborn snakes, only to be met with mockery and sarcasm.
The sneering elders choked on their words, their expressions stiffening. It was true—this matter really had nothing to do with these outsiders.
Milt’s eyes narrowed slightly. “You make bold claims. What proof do you have p>
Ming and the others stepped aside, allowing Nina to walk to the front. She looked directly at Milt and the council. “I have a healing ability. I can cure the beastmen in your city. I was the one who detected the poison using my power p>
Milt and the elders stared at her, their eyes filled with intense skepticism. This female has an ability? And she can detect a poison that even our top witch doctors couldn’t find?
“A female like you thinks she can cure the beastmen of our city?” one elder scoffed. He refused to believe a female could outperform their high-ranked witch doctors. The other elders wore similar expressions of disdain.
“Whether I can cure them or not, why don’t you bring a beastman here and let me try? Then you’ll know,” Nina replied, her tone completely calm.
Seeing her absolute composure, the elders began to waver. Could this female actually be telling the truth?
Milt kept his eyes on Nina. “Very well. I will have someone brought in for you to try p>
“Make sure to find someone in critical condition—someone your witch doctors have given up on,” Nina added with a cold smile. “Lest certain beastmen start making excuses about my gender again p>
The elders scowled at her remark. Fine, let’s find her someone on the brink of death and see if she can truly bring them back.
Milt immediately gave the order.
After a short while, a dying cub was carried into the hall. Seeing the emaciated, barely breathing little creature, even the stubborn elders felt a pang of pity. At that moment, their malicious desire to see Nina fail vanished.
Nina looked at the cub, a wave of sympathy washing over her. She couldn’t help but wonder how many more cubs in the city were suffering just like this.
She walked over to the cub’s side and activated her healing ability.
Milt and the elders held their breath, watching her every move without blinking.
As the warm, soothing healing energy flowed steadily into the cub’s body, the deathly pale color on his face began to recede, replaced by a healthy flush. The elders’ expressions shifted from tense anticipation to utter shock.
After a while, the cub slowly opened his watery eyes. The very first thing he saw was Nina, who was still focused on treating him. He looked at her with pure curiosity. Did this pretty older sister save me? He could clearly feel the warm energy that had cured him flowing directly from her hands.
Soon, the cub was completely healed, and Nina withdrew her power.
The little cub slowly sat up, only then realizing he was surrounded by a crowd of strange beastmen. Instinctively, he scrambled up and hid behind Nina, peering out at Milt and the elders with fright.
Nina gently patted his head. “Don’t be afraid. They won’t hurt you p>
The cub wrapped his arms around her leg, clinging to her tightly.
The elders’ eyes were wide with astonishment. This female had actually cured a dying cub right before their eyes.
