Chapter 181
No. Not this time. I think to call Zane so maybe we can have back up but i realize I left my phone in the chaos at the ice cream shop.
So no one is coming to save me with that thought in mind I steady my hand, exhale slowly, aim right at the driver and I fire.
The recoil jerks through my arm but the shot lands clean, straight into his head.
His body jerks violently as the car behind us swerves hard out of control.
“Nice shot,” Aaron mutters under his breath.
But I’m not done I fire again and again, not at him this time. At the car and tires the tires as I see someone from the car try to take control of the car. I shoot windshield, literally anywhere I can hit until the vehicle jerks violently, losing control completely. It veers off to the side… then spins really hard out of the road.
My breathing is heavy nw but my grip is still tight on the gun as the wind rushes past my face.
But the second and third car is still there stil chasing us.
I lean out again, gripping the gun tighter, trying to steady my breathing enough to take another shot.
The second car is still on us and much closer now too close.
I aim, finger tightening on the trigger p>

Nothing
My stomach drops as I try pulling the trigger again.
Click I’m out of bullets
“Shit I hiss under my breath.
“I’m out,” Aaron says at the exact same time.
His voice is tight now and not calm like before.
I glance at him quickly to see he’s already pulling back into the car, checking his weapon, jaw set.
“Cover me,” he adds.
“I’m trying,” I snap back, even though I already know I’ve got nothing left to give. Still, I lean out again, lifting the useless gun like it’ll somehow magically fire.
The car behind us speeds up, I can see them clearer now. They have their guns straight on us.
My chest tightens and I yank myself back inside the car.
“Reload,” I mutter, more to myself than anyone else.
My hands are shaking now badlt as i fumble with the magazine, trying to get it in properly.
“Come on, come on p>
My fingers slip and i curse under my breath and try again.
Outside, more gunshots ring out, loud and relentlessly. Our car jerks slightly as another bullet hits.
“Almost I breathe, finally forcing the magazine into place, I lift the gun again but then I freeze because when I look up they are not behind us anymore They are directly beside us both of of th cars one on each side.
My heart drops straight into my stomach.
“They are trying to box us in I say, my voice barely above a whisper.
Aaron’s head snaps up.
“Windows up now p>
We don’t even hesitate. I slam my hand against the control, rolling the window up as fast as it’ll go.
The glass slides up just in time because the moment it seals gunfire erupts, bullets ullets slam against the window violently over and over. Loud cracks echo through the car as the glass takes the impact. My entire body flinching at the sound, even knowing the glass is bulletproof doesn’t stop the fear.
The car on my side moves closer, so close that metal scrapes against metal with a horrible grinding sound as sparks fly right outside my window.
I gasp, pressing back against the seat.
“They’re trying to crush us I breathe.
The car on Aaron’s side does the same. Cloaing in and squeezing us between thm as the space tightens and pressure builds.
Our car jerks violently as both sides push inward. The sound is unbearable, metal bending and grinding.
The driver lets out a panicked shout.
“I can’t I can’t get out p>
“Keep fucking driving!” Aaron snaps.
“I’m trying p>
The wheel jerks under his hands and the car swerves slightly but there’s nowhere to go.
Nowhere We’re stuck between them. My heart is pounding so hard it feels like it’s going to burst out of my chest.
Another round of bullets hits the windows and I duck instinctively even though I know it won’t come through dor now because even though the glass is bullet proof it can only hold on for so long.
The car shakes again, harder this time and the pressure increases… then suddenly p>
One of the cars pulls away slightly just enough.
“Go!” Aaron barks and the driver slams his foot down.
The car lurches forward but it’s too sudden and the car is rstill unstable, the car jerks violently to the side, out of control. My breath catches in my throat.
“No p>
The tires screech loudly against the road, the car fishtailing left, then right to fast, way too fast.
“Hold on!” the driver shouts.
I grab onto the seat, my fingers digging into the leather as mt whole body tenses.
Then theres a massive impact from behind. The second car hit us hard, the force of it sending us spinning.
I scream as the car whips around, and the world outside turning into a blur of trees and darkness and flashing light.
My head slams back against the seat, then forward so hard everything shakes violently
The car veers off the road… straight toward the side and then we crash. The sound of metal slamming and glass cracking is deafening as everything jolts forward with brutal force.
My head my head hits something hard. The roof… maybe? It’s a sharp, crushing impact that has white blinding oain exploding behind my eyes.
Everything goes silent for a second. Then there’s a loud overwhelming ringing in my head that has my vision blurrin and darkening at the edges. K try to breathe but it feels like the air’s been knocked out of me. My hands feel numb and my body heavy, I can’t move.
I blink slowly, trying to focus.
