Chapter 303
Chapter 303:
“Don’t be ridiculous,” Gabriela cut off Aubrey’s words, her tone sharp. “We’re working with the Williams Group, so what was strange about Mr. Williams adding me on WhatsApp p>
“Then why didn’t he add me? I’m in the same division as you, and I’m working on this project too. Yet just now, he completely ignored me.” She leaned in, teasing. “It seems he has a thing for you. Well, well — looks like Mr. Moss just found himself a rival p>
Gabriela frowned, irritation tightening her mouth. “Keep spouting nonsense and you can forget about sharing the commission p>
Aubrey clapped a hand over her mouth at once, a silent vow to stay quiet. Then she hooked her arm through Gabriela’s, and the two of them went to wait for the bus together, spirits quickly rebounding.
When Gabriela got home, the aroma of freshly cooked dishes drifted from the kitchen. She had once been a foodie, through and through, loving the cooking as much as the eating. Now those tempting smells only churned her stomach and left her queasy.
“Welcome back, Gabriela!” Loretta called, delighted. “Go wash your hands — dinner is almost ready p>

“I don’t feel good. I’ll spend some time relaxing in my room.” Swallowing back the nausea, Gabriela murmured an excuse to Loretta, then hurried upstairs and shut the door behind her.
Not long after, Wesley returned. The moment Loretta saw him, her worry spilled out. “Wesley, you’re Gabriela’s boss. You must take good care of her at the office p>
Wesley stilled mid-coat, hearing the off note in her tone. “What is it? Did something happen p>
“Gabriela said she wasn’t feeling well the moment she got back and locked herself in her room,” Loretta explained. “You need to take her to the hospital for a proper checkup p>
Wesley, concerned by Gabriela’s recent state, nodded. “Alright p>
Upstairs, Gabriela was wrung out from vomiting. She had hardly eaten all day, and whatever little she forced down came straight back up.
She was starving, so weak her legs felt like jelly, yet the kitchen scents smothered her appetite completely. She hadn’t expected the pregnancy nausea to hit this hard. At first, she could grit through it, but now it had blown past her control.
Tessa and Aubrey helped cover for her at work, shielding her pregnancy from others’ suspicion. But at home — even with Farley’s help — how long could she keep it from Loretta?
Troubled, Gabriela holed up in her room and didn’t dare come out. When dinnertime finally passed, Loretta came looking for her. In a rush, Gabriela dabbed on lipstick, steadying herself before she opened the door.
“You didn’t eat dinner, Gabriela. Are you okay? Should I have Wesley take you to the hospital for a check-up?” Loretta’s voice carried genuine worry.
There was no way Gabriela would allow Wesley to take her anywhere near a hospital. Keeping her tone light, she answered, “No need. I’ve already seen a doctor, and I haven’t even finished the medicine yet p>
“But you can’t keep missing meals,” Loretta countered. She considered for a moment before adding, “You liked the chicken soup I made yesterday, didn’t you? How about I prepare another pot p>
The thought warmed Gabriela, though guilt pricked at her. Loretta was no longer young, and it felt selfish to trouble her again.
“No need, really. The doctor said once I finish the medicine, I should recover,” Gabriela responded, forcing a small smile.
