Mira had her phone on speaker, so the whole group heard the exchange clearly.
“Did you catch that?” she asked with a smirk. “He said to order whatever we want. It’s on him p>
“Perfect. I’m aiming straight for the most expensive items on the menu,” Liora said.
Sienna, having been thoroughly put in her place by Mira and the others during the trip, had finally learned to behave. She stopped obsessing out loud about finding hot guys, though throughout the meal, she still cast stealthy glances at any halfway decent-looking student who walked by.
After they finished eating, Mira looked at the group. “So, what’s the verdict on the campus food p>
“Honestly, it tastes about the same as ours,” Liora noted. “But your dining hall is definitely way bigger and a lot brighter p>
Celine nodded in agreement.
“It’s way better than the food at our school,” Sienna chimed in.
“Well, obviously. Your school is barely a second-tier community college,” Liora replied bluntly. The sheer brutal honesty of it made even Mira cringe a little.
For a brief moment, a flash of genuine embarrassment crossed Sienna’s face. Spending just half a day with Mira and her friends had made the massive social and intellectual gap between them painfully obvious. She felt completely out of her depth.
Why did they get into prestigious ivy-league universities, while she was stuck at a mediocre college, only admitted because her family paid a hefty donation fee?
But the feeling didn’t last. She quickly rationalized that the gap was too wide to bridge anyway. There was no point in trying to catch up; she might as well just stick to her current easy lifestyle. It worked well enough for her.
Polishing off the rest of her meal, Sienna turned back to Mira. “Are you absolutely sure there aren’t any hot guys here who’d be a good match for me p>
“I certainly haven’t seen anyone who would tolerate you,” Mira replied flatly. “Whatever. Forget it then p>
Sienna actually looked a bit disappointed, a reaction Mira couldn’t even begin to understand.
“Why don’t you guys head over to my place?” Mira suggested. “You can hang out with Grandma Eleanor and Rachel. I have some work and study sessions scheduled for this afternoon, but we can all hang out again tomorrow p>
“Are you sure we won’t be intruding?” Celine asked.
“Not at all. You’re practically family. Plus, you can stay for dinner. It’s been way too long since you’ve had Rachel’s cooking p>
“Deal! Honestly, Rachel’s food was half the reason I even came on this trip,” Liora joked with a wide smile.
Celine, worried that her cousin might cause another embarrassing scene, tried to find an excuse to send Sienna away, but Mira stopped her.
“She’s already here. Let her come. Nobody is going to judge her,” Mira insisted.
Out of respect for Celine, Mira couldn’t exactly uninvite her cousin. Besides, other than being boy-crazy, Siena was relatively harmless. As long as she didn’t disrespect her family, Mira didn’t care.
Mira led the group into her upscale residential complex. “You really scored with this place, Mira,” Liora said, admiring the surroundings. It’s amaz azing you managed to snad apartment this close to campus right as the semester started. It’s barely a five-minute walk
“It wasn’t luck,” Mira corrected smoothly. “I had my team in Aethelgard scouting properties months in advance p>
“Months in advance? How were you so sure you’d get into Aethelgard University?” Liora’s eyes widened in surprise.
“Even if I didn’t get in, real estate in the capital is a solid investment. It’s not like I’d lose money on it p>
Celine laughed at that. “Mira is basically a tycoon at this point. She achieved financial freedom ages ago. You can’t look at her decisions through the lens of a normal college student p>
Both Celine and Liora came from wealthy families, but they were still living on allowances. The family fortunes weren’t theirs to control.
Mira didn’t bother offering any humble denials. It wasn’t bragging; it was just a simple fact.
“Wait, if you’re that loaded, why
aren’t you surrounding yourself with hot guys and living it up? Sienna suddenly interjected. Tying yourself down to just one guy is ridiculous! You’re crazy.
If I were you, I’d have my hooks in both of those society presidents, Harvey Rivers,
and every single one of his friends.
As for your precious Owen, he can either join the harem or get lost p>
Who said Sienna was stupid? She wasn’t stupid at all—in fact, she was incredibly bold and utterly shameless.
