Adrian was on death’s door, having finally paid the price for his own arrogance and cruelty. Whether Ethan stepped in or not, Adrian only had days left to live.

Roxanne saw Mara as the perfect weapon and the ultimate scapegoat.
No one in the world hated Mira more than Mara did everyone in Melvion City knew it. No explanation would ever be needed.
From now on, Roxanne could use Mara to execute all her dirty work.
Or, more accurately, she could hire skilled professionals to do the actual damage, and just have Mara show her face to take the fall.
With Mara in her arsenal, Roxanne effectively had an extra life in her war against Mira.
Even better, Mara shared a striking resemblance to Roxanne in both figure and facial features.
It made sense, given they shared some bloodline traits.
This unexpected bonus meant Mara could easily serve as a physical body double. After dropping Mara off at the hospital, Roxanne was in a surprisingly good mood. She returned home, slipping off her heels, eager to share the progress with her family. Then, the doorbell rang.
She opened the door to find the police standing on her porch.
Roxanne froze, feeling as though she had just been bashed over the head with a crowbar.
