Chapter 742

Hearing their earnest dedication, Mira decided she could squeeze out a little time for them.

“Alright, I’ll take a look. Actually, I know a brilliant writer who regularly edits scripts for Solflare Entertainment. I can send this over and see if he’d be willing to review it for us p>

“That would be amazing! But wouldn’t the consulting fee be insane?” Wesley asked, his practical nature shining through as the club president.

“Don’t worry about the cost. I’ll explain our situation to him,” Mira assured him. “If the project tanks, he’ll treat it as a favor, and nobody pays a dime. But if the series turns a profit, it’s only fair we give him a cut p>

As college students living on shoestring budgets, the mere mention of spending money terrified them.

“Of course, that’s completely fair,” Wesley agreed quickly. “He’s putting in the time and effort p>

“And then there’s our filming equipment Wesley brought up the next major hurdle, proving once again why he was in charge.

At the time, the first-generation smartphones from the Javenaire Federation had just hit the market, and their built-in cameras were severely limited.

“Use your phones for now,” Mira suggested. “Solflare Entertainment does rent out equipment, and I could get you a discounted rate, but it would still cost money p>

She couldn’t let them become reliant on her. It was better for them to figure it out themselves; the eventual success would taste much sweeter.

Besides, Solflare Entertainment had its own corporate structure. Even the boss had to follow the rules.

“Mira, what if we try this?” Wesley proposed. “We shoot all the basic scenes on our phones, save up the complex shots, and then rent Solflare’s gear for a few days to film them all at once p>

“That works. Let me make a call and check the inventory,” Mira said, pulling out her phone. “Kieran, does the company have any spare gear for shooting a Micro- Series p>

Kieran Holt had been Mira’s very first hire. Back in the early days of her startup, he had been a one-man army, handling nearly every operational detail. Now, Kieran was the General Manager of Solflare Entertainment, overseeing all of the conglomerate’s media subsidiaries.

His position essentially made him the CEO of a mid-sized corporation—a heavy hitter in the industry.

Even though there were lower-level managers meant for these exact inquiries, Mira was accustomed to going straight to him for anything entertainment-related.

Kieran was also one of the rare executives allowed to call Mira by her first name.

“Give me a second, Mira. Let me check,” he replied. A moment later, Kieran called back. “All the new gear is booked solid. But we do have a bunch of older phased out equipment sitting in storage For a startup Micro-Series, it’s more than enough. Whether you want to rent or buy, I can let it go for practically nothing p>

“Got it. Thanks, Kieran. Bye.” Mira hung up and turned back to Wesley’s eager group. “Solflare Entertainment has some older generation cameras storage they’re perfect for short-form content, and the price is dirt cheap p>

“That’s perfect!” The club quickly huddled up and reached a consensus: they would

rent the gear first and buy it outright once they had some cash flow.

“As for editing, the platform actually has a built-in feature for that. You can just use it directly,” Mira informed them.

Next up was casting.

“Mira, could you play the female lead?” Wesley asked hesitantly.

“I know your appearance fee would usually be astronomical, but this is our debut project. Could you do us a massive favor p>

Mira paused, thinking it over. “To be completely honest, I’ve never acted before. Not in anything. And it’s not that I don’t want to, but I literally don’t have the time. How about this: I can feature in videos on the club’s

account, singing or dancing, whatever you need. But committing to a lead role is impossible for me right now. Between classes running the company, and dealing with the press, I’m stretched thin. Let one of the other members take the

spotlight p>

“What about a supporting role?” Wesley pressed. “Minimal screen time, someone super elegant and refined p>

“Fine, you’ve got a deal p>

She really couldn’t turn them down again. Acting, as it turned out, was no walk in the park. For a complete novice, it meant endless hours drilling lines and attempting to figure out blocking.
