Calliope spent some time freshening up in her room. As dinnertime drew near, she sent a message to the group chat, inviting everyone out for a meal together.
She stepped into the hallway just as Damien came out of the room next door.
She looked at him in surprise. “How did you know I was heading out for dinner?” She hadn’t even messaged him yet, but there he was, as if he’d anticipated her perfectly.
Damien gave a sheepish grin and rubbed the back of his head. “It was about the right time, so I thought I’d check. You don’t think I was spying on you, do you p>
“Of course not. I just figured I’d pop out every few minutes. I didn’t want to disturb you, so I didn’t call p>
“You really don’t need to worry. I’ll always let you know when I’m going out p>
She flashed him a slightly exasperated smile.
Damien’s grin widened. “Well, then, I’d appreciate that p>
“Honestly, you’re the one who has to put up with being dragged around after me p>
she said with a laugh.
Damien quickly waved her off. “Don’t say that! This is my job. Your safety comes first —and Mr. Myers pays me for a reason p>
Calliope nodded and headed out, Damien faithfully following behind.
Down in the hotel lobby, Calliope waited for a while. Before long, Julius Quillen approached, his presence unmistakable-he carried himself with the effortless charisma of a true celebrity.
“Julius!” she called out, waving brightly. “When did you come p>
Julius grinned. “Filming kicks off tomorrow, so I figured I’d come early since I had nothing else going on. Callie, it’s such a treat to be on the same project for once. With you here, it’s bound to be a blast p>
She couldn’t help but tease him. “Don’t be so sure! I can be a real nightmare to work with-I have very high standards. Even for my dearest Julius, that won’t change p>
She gave him an exaggerated wink.
Julius laughed. “I know exactly what you expect, but hey, I’m Julius! You’ve got nothing to worry about I’ve been around this industry for a white, whether it’s acting, singing, or dancing, I can handle anything you throw at me p>
“I believe you,” Calliope said, smiling warmly. She felt her spirits lift-Julius always had that effect on her.
Not far away, Ulysses had overheard Calliope’s sound and hurried over. But as soon as he saw Julius with her, he stopped, the enthusiasm draining from his face. An empty
