Chapter 671:
The two men stepped forward and took Belle by the arms, hauling her off the floor. She kicked and screamed, her voice echoing down the grand hallways as she was dragged from the study.
The heavy doors clicked shut.
Grayson and Beatrice were alone.
“Do not ever let your weakness for a flawed woman jeopardize this empire again,” Beatrice said softly.
She turned and walked out.
Grayson stood alone by the window. He watched the security guards shove Belle into her SUV. His hands gripped the windowsill so tightly his knuckles turned white, his breathing ragged and uneven.
He had surrendered to Beatrice. He had abandoned Belle.

But deep in his chest, a dark, rebellious fury began to build. He hated Beatrice’s control — but he hated even more that it threatened to strip him of his instruments. He realized, with chilling clarity, that a bankrupt and imprisoned Belle was useless to him. A funded Belle, however — one who could continue to cause chaos, to remain a constant and irritating thorn in Isolde’s side — that was a tool he still needed.
He wasn’t saving her. He was re-arming her.
The jazz in the underground VIP lounge of the Manhattan private club was a low, throbbing bassline. The air smelled of expensive cigars and aged leather.
Grayson sat alone in a dimly lit corner booth, staring at the amber liquid in his crystal glass. The ice had long since melted.
The heavy velvet curtain separating his booth from the main room parted. Silas slipped inside, pale and visibly nervous, carrying a locked black titanium briefcase. He sat down across from Grayson and dropped his voice to a frightened whisper.
“Sir, I just received the back-channel update from the federal courthouse,” Silas reported. “InnoTech’s creditors are filing the final liquidation paperwork at 9:00 AM tomorrow. If the debt isn’t cleared by then, the embezzlement investigation goes public. Ms. Escobar will face up to ten years in federal prison p>
Grayson took a slow sip of his watered-down whiskey. The liquid burned his throat but did nothing to quiet the chaos in his mind.
He didn’t love Belle anymore. The embezzlement had killed whatever twisted affection he had held for her. But he could not let her go to prison. Kaiden needed a mother who wasn’t a convicted felon.
More importantly, Grayson’s own toxic pride could not stomach the idea of Isolde winning so completely. If Belle went to prison, Isolde would stand over the ashes of his life and smile. He would not allow it.
Grayson set the glass down. “Open the case p>
Silas’s eyes went wide with sheer panic. “Sir — the Matriarch was explicit. If she catches you moving funds, she will execute the emergency protocol. You will lose the company p>
“She won’t catch me,” Grayson said, his voice a cold, sociopathic whisper. “Because I am not using Lancaster money p>
Silas hesitated, his hands trembling as he unlocked the titanium briefcase. He withdrew a heavy encrypted laptop and pushed it across the table.
Grayson opened the screen. The operating system was entirely black, running on a secure dark-web proxy server.
“Open the portal to Apex Ventures,” Grayson ordered.
