The guy with the gold chain took me to a place called Crestview Metropolis, a suburban mansion estate I’d hardly ever ventured out to the suburbs and had no idea such estates existed.
I’d seen the Hilton family’s ancestral home in the city center, sprawling over 3000 square feet, which I thought was the height of luxury.
But entering this suburban estate was like climbing a mountain. The whole place was essentially a mountain that had been transformed into an estate.
Even those living up on the mountain had to drive everywhere, making any romantic relationships practically long-distance.
It really made me think, some people live in a different world altogether.
“This is one of our lady’s residences she uses when she travels. She’s taken a fancy to staying in Crestview Metropolis lately and has brought us out with her. Meeting her, Dr. Claire, is a privilege p>
I didn’t respond. He was being so mysterious about his boss, constantly hinting at how delicate she was.
I was just there for the ride in the bulletproof car.
It was built similar to the one Max used to rescue me that day. Except Max’s was a Maybach model, whereas this one was custom-made.
“Nice bulletproof car,” I commented.
The guy with the gold chain beamed with pride. “Oh, absolutely. This car was custom-made specifically for our lady. Not just anyone can have this. There’s only one in the world. Our lady thinks highly of you, which is why I was sent to pick you up in this car.” I just hummed in response.
The ride to the top of the mountain took a while, and with it being winter, it was especially chilly up there.
Apart from some servants, there was hardly anyone around.

But after a while, he was abruptly thrown out by two stern-looking bodyguards.
“Ma’am, I’m sorry. It’s just that Dr. Claire was so busy, which is why she’s late p>
I didn’t hear the lady speak, but the bodyguard said, “The lady said she would have been long gone by now p>
