Chapter 302
Alexander’s eyes narrowed dangerously as he leaned closer to Rain and embraced her tightly, his grip firm yet calculated. His gaze darted to the back of her ear, confirming his suspicion. A chilling realization swept over him as his body stiffened, his fists trembling.
“Let go of me!” the woman in his arms screamed, struggling against him. Alexander released her immediately, his expression hard as stone.
He turned to Tim, his voice low but seething with anger. “I don’t trust you with my wife. I’ll have her transferred to the hospital of my choice.” Without waiting for a reply, Alexander spun on his heel and stormed out of the room, leaving Tim visibly shaken.
William caught up with him as Alexander stepped into the elevator and pressed the button for the basement parking. “Are you leaving?! What’s going on?!” William demanded, his voice laced with confusion.
Alexander didn’t respond, his focus razor-sharp as he pulled out his phone. “Get the car ready. I’m on my way down,” he ordered, his tone curt.
The moment the elevator doors slid open, Alexander strode toward the waiting car. As William climbed in beside him, Alexander turned to Dion in the front seat. His voice was firm, every word deliberate.
“We have a situation. Rain has been swapped with a fake. Find my wife immediately. Check every CCTV camera in this hospital. If needed, get Chubby to hack their systems. No mistakes, no delays, and keep this operation discreet. Whoever is behind this must not realize we’re onto them p>
William’s jaw dropped, his face draining of color. “This… this can’t be. Are you absolutely sure?!” But as the reality began to dawn on him, his voice faltered. “Wait. There’s no mole behind her ear, is there? You didn’t see one when you hugged her, did you p>
Alexander nodded grimly. “Exactly. But it’s more than that. The way that woman kept calling Tim ’Father Rain hasn’t called him that since she was a child. She swore she’d never address him like that again unless absolutely necessary, and even then, only once. This wasn’t Rain. Someone is trying to deceive us, and I’ll make them regret it p>
“I can’t believe this!” William grunted, his fists clenched in frustration. “How dare they try to pull the same trick as the case Sister-in-law is handling! Do they think we’re fools p>
Alexander’s expression remained cold and focused. “William, keep this to yourself for now. We need to act carefully. If they realize we’re onto them, Rain’s life will be in even greater danger. The element of surprise is our only advantage p>
William took a deep breath, nodding reluctantly. “You’re right. I’ll handle things back in the private room. I’ll tell them you’re still in denial, struggling to accept that Sister-in-law doesn’t remember you. That should buy us some time p>
Alexander nodded in approval. “Good. Don’t let them suspect anything. Sanya and the others must stay in the dark about this for now p>
Without another word, William stepped out of the car and headed back toward the private room, adjusting his demeanor to play his role convincingly.
Meanwhile, Alexander wasted no time. He picked up his phone and started issuing rapid instructions to his men. They were working against the clock.
He clenched his phone tightly, his mind racing. Whoever dared mess with his wife would soon learn they had picked the wrong man to cross.
William clenched his fists tightly as he approached the private room but quickly composed himself before stepping inside. His face was calm and collected as he addressed the room.
“My brother is having a hard time with this situation,” he began his tone even. “For now, I’ll need a full explanation from you, Tim. Like my brother Alexander said, we’ll be transferring my sister-in-law as soon as possible p>
Tim sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. “She’s not mentally stable right now, William. She doesn’t even recognize Sanya, let alone Alexander. From what I’ve observed, she only remembers fragments of her childhood p>
William raised a brow, feigning interest, then turned to Sanya. “So, she’s only recalling memories of her childhood? And even those are incomplete p>
Sanya nodded solemnly. “It’s strange. She didn’t react to me at all, as if we’ve never met p>
William’s jaw tightened as he struggled to suppress the boiling anger inside him. He wanted to burst into laughter at the audacity of this charade, or better yet, slap the so-called “Rain” and Tim for thinking they could pull this off.
He glanced briefly at the woman in the bed. The gall… this imposter dares to pretend she’s my sister-in-law?
His gaze returned to Tim, eyes narrowing. And this man has the audacity to call himself her father? He bit the inside of his cheek to keep himself from blurting out what he was truly thinking. A DNA test is long overdue. Who knows what secrets this man is hiding? He’s never acted like a real father to her anyway.
“Alright,” William finally said, his voice sharp with forced politeness. “We’ll wait until my brother is ready, but mark my words… this is not the end of this conversation p>
He made a mental note to follow up with Alexander immediately. Every passing moment convinced him more that they were dealing with something far more sinister than they’d anticipated.
Tim nodded, his face unreadable. “I will look after Rain closely and try to help her understand the situation better. For now, additional tests are necessary. Her safety remains my top priority p>
“Yes, do that,” William replied, his gaze firm. “Sanya and I will stay here in the meantime. If anyone can help jog her memory or provide emotional support, it’s Sanya. You know how close they’ve always been p>
Tim hesitated for a moment before agreeing. “Yes, I know p>
The impostor, lying on the hospital bed, shifted uncomfortably before speaking, her voice soft yet deliberate. “I’m sorry,” she said, looking apologetically between William and Sanya. “This is all so overwhelming. Everything feels strange… and having people around me that I don’t know. It makes me uneasy p>
