Chapter 375
(Author’s POV)
“Young Alphas, it’s a pleasure to meet you,” Silvia approached them with her signature smile. She glanced at Nora and remarked, “Ohh~ the Lycan princess is here as well. So, nice. I must say. You are~ gorgeous… young princess p>
Nora returned her greeting, maintaining proper decorum, “It’s my privilege to meet you as well, Vampire Elder Silvia Silver.” The boys followed with their formal greetings.
Catherine held a sharp look in her eyes as she scanned all of them one by one. ’Just a bunch of pups.’ She spoke, her voice laced with feigned politeness, “So, Lycan heir Alaric, Young Alpha Brave, we heard you were the ones who succoured his majesty from the depths of the sea. I, Catherine Richards, as an Elder of the Vampire’s, would like to extend my deep gratitude to you for what you have done p>
“As a ’close ally’, it is our responsibility to assist when the Vampire King needs us. I am sure he would be doing the same for us,” Brave spoke, measuredly.
“But~ Catherine arched her brows. Her gaze landed on Nora for a brief moment, then she returned her attention back to the brothers, “There is one thing I would really like to know p>
“What is it, Elder Richards?” Brave queried, his expression remained neutral.
“Umm~… how were you able to do that?” The room fell into a complete, utter bit of silence. She continued, “Don’t get me wrong, but~ In such torrential weather, deep into the night, with tidal waves soaring, it was nearly impossible to achieve such a feat. The curious cat within me just won’t stop budging. So~ How did you do that, Young Alphas?” Though she was asking the brothers, her eyes would look at Nora every now and then.
“We are descendants of the only Lycan king and queen in the entire world. There is nothing impossible for us to achieve,” Alaric stated in a matter of factly tone, the obvious. “It was like~… walking in the park for us p>
“A walk in the park, you say. Self confidence is a good thing, Lycan heir Alaric, but are you sure there is only that to your story? For me, something really doesn’t add up,” Catherine said, her tone was even, but her sharp eyes were reeking suspicion.
On her comment, Nora felt a chilling sensation. She could feel that Catherine knew something about her powers.
Alaric narrowed his eyes, meeting Catherine’s gaze in a staring contest, “Are you trying to accuse us of something, Vampire Catherine Richards p>
“YOU THERIANTHROPE. How dare you speak to Ancilla Richards in that manner?” Brian blazed in fury. He couldn’t stand Alaric speaking to Catherine in a derogatory tone.
Brave interrupted, his voice composed, “Elder Tape, did Alaric say anything wrong? Aren’t you trying to pin the blame on us? If you feel there is something wrong, state it clearly. By the way, there were two witnesses from your side, Secretary Shadow and Prof. Stephens. You can ask both of them if there are any trust issues p>
Chris chimed in, intending to clear their names off, “Young Alpha Brave and Alaric got into the waters and pulled his majesty, who was tangled and concealed under the kelps. They were the reason the master was rescued in the nick of time. Otherwise~ he didn’t continue further.
“Chris Shadow, why are you rushing in to defend. And why is everyone so eager to draw a conclusion regarding my simple questioning? Behaving all jittery, hmm?” Catherine spoke casually, taking a seat. “I have no intention of accusing anybody here. Simply stating a few things that were bothering me. But the fact that you helped our king as well as us can’t be denied. In that case~ the protection deal you came here for~ As his majesty isn’t well right now, I, with a heavy heart, will be taking over his duties in the meantime,” she declared, her voice solemn.
Chris’s eyes widened at the announcement as Brian backed her up, “Of course, no one is more qualified and experienced than Elder Richards to take over the King’s pending duties. She is the rightful person.” He looked at her with pure admiration. He then turned to face Silvia, who was eyeing Catherine with something unreadable, “I guess you don’t have any objection, Elder Silver p>
Silvia was left in a bind. He had brought her to the fore. As she opened her mouth, a voice that definitely didn’t belong to her spoke the exact same words she was about to utter, “I OBJECT p>
The laid back sound reverberated inside the living room as all eyes turned to find the source of the voice. The footsteps echoed as someone wearing a leatherette gothic style cloak entered the room, his walk elegant, his face covered with the hood.
His promenade ended beside Silvia as the latter took a step to the other side, trying to create some distance from him.
“Elder Cardamone? What are you doing here?” Brian spoke, his voice filled with confusion.
Vinicio Cardamone took off his cloak, posed like a supermodel and gave a devilishly handsome smile, his voice lazy, husky, “I am really disappointed in you, Elder Tape. Of course, I am here for his majesty. Why? Do you not want me to be here p>
Brian was annoyed by his cockiness. He didn’t like this guy one bit.
Catherine spoke, “Elder Cardamone, don’t misunderstand Elder Tape’s words. We didn’t think you would be able to make it. Weren’t you in Yolkmire, busy with Dark Nightshade Clan’s urgent business p>
“Nothing is more important than~ He gave a sideways glance to Silvia and continued, “The Vampire King for me.” He looked at the Everests and commented, “New faces,” and took a long sniff, his voice filled with excitement, “Ohhhh~… the werewolves are here as well p>
“Elder Cardamone,” Brave greeted. “We are finally able to meet p>
“Why so formal? You make me feel so old,” Vinicio spoke, feigning sorrow. His tone then changed back to energetic, “Young Alpha Br~ave, right? I was dying to meet you as well. Oops~ Hahaha~… Not dying, really. Already have once.” He blabbered.
