Chapter 478
(Author’s POV)
“Th~ That’s just~ how can that happen?” the doctor exclaimed, stunned. Even the other doctor and nurses around her were in shock to see the reports.
William and Sandra were terrified by that reaction. Sandra’s eyes started to moisten as William dared to ask, “Doctor, what is it? Is there something serious in the reports? What is wrong~ tell us?” He tried to sound as calm as possible, but there was an obvious tremor in his voice.
“Serious?” Another doctor said. “Mr. Miracle, the patient~ how should I put it,” he dilly dallied, heightening the Miracle couple’s nerves even more. Then he sighed and completed his sentence, “There is nothing serious. In fact, the patient’s injuries are recovering at a tremendous speed. Normally, wounds like these take time to heal. Weeks, sometimes even months. But Ms. Myra’s injuries~ it has just been two days and half her wounds have already healed At this rate, she can get discharged in a week. It’s a Miracle.” He broke the news.
Sandra, who was clenching her skirt tightly, her grip loosened. She batted her wet lashes and asked for confirmation, “Really? Is it really true p>
Myra’s attending doctor replied, “Yes, ma’am. What Dr. Bailey said is correct. The patient has a good constitution, so it might be because of that.” Though she said this, her thoughts said otherwise: ’But is it really possible for a human to heal so fast with such gruesome injuries? Is this really a miracle? I have never seen such a strange case.’ After giving her verdict, she and her team departed, leaving Myra and her parents alone.
Sandra was so happy to hear that, she hugged William and started crying. Her tears fell like a fountain. William embraced her back in comfort and asked, “Why are you crying, honey? The doctor said~ p>
“I know, I know~… these are not tears of sadness, they are of gratitude. I am so thankful that my daughter~… my Myra is fine and can go home soon,” the more she said, the more the tears spilt. She has been feeling anxious for the past few days, even to the point where she would get up in the middle of the night and check up on Myra constantly.
William caressed her back soothingly and smiled. He then looked at Myra, who was sleeping due to heavy sedatives. As a father, he too has been feelings tensed. “Everything is going to be fine now, Sandra. Everything will be fine from now on.” They were overjoyed by the news.
Soon, William called Wendy to give her the good news. Wendy had just gotten out of the class, and Dion was just talking to her about Myra when she received the call. She excused herself and picked it up at once, “Hello, Dad p>
“Wendy, your sister, she is~ William started, but Wendy cut his words off frantically.
“What~… what happened to sis, huhh? Dad?” she inquired, her tone high-pitched and urgent.
Of course, Dion, who wasn’t far away from her, panicked. He reached by Wendy’s side in an instant. But before William could say more, the call ended abruptly.
“Dad~… dad? Hello, Dad?” Wendy kept speaking. After taking a look at the screen, she dialled his number again and again, but the mechanical voice echoed from the other side, “The number you are dialling is currently switched off. Please call again later p>
Dion wasted no time and said to her, “Wendy, I will take you to the hospital p>
Wendy nodded, frightened. They quickly made it to his vehicle as Dion sped up the car. All the while on the road, Wendy kept on calling her father’s number, but no reply came. And there was no other way to contact them as well.
Nearly an hour journey, Dion covered it in mere twenty minutes, breaking most of the traffic signals and dashing around.
Wendy slid the door open with much more force than needed; the sound startled both her parents. She entered the room, her eyes bloodshot as she said, her voice loud, “DAD, MOM, what happened to sister? Why did the phone suddenly cut off? Is sis alright?” Dion followed her inside.
William, who was peeling an apple, froze. Sandra was drinking water at that time; she spat it out when she saw Wendy there and coughed violently. William calmed her down as he asked, “Wendy, what are you doing here p>
Wendy noticed her parents’ expression, then she glanced at her sister, who was sitting there with a puzzling look.
Dion intervened, “Sir, ma’am. Wendy was with me when your call came. She thought something had happened to Myra. So, I brought her here at once.” His voice was comforting and polite.
William checked the time, then Dion’s concern filled expression. Though he was pissed at him for reckless driving and dragging his other daughter there, for the time being, he held it in.
He then released a heavy sigh and said, “The phone’s battery died midway, and there was no charge, so I couldn’t call you. As for what I was saying, the doctor said~… your sister could be discharged in a week p>
Wendy’s stiffened body eased, as the tip of her lips curved upwards. She gasped, covering her mouth and said, “This is~… this is such good news. Why didn’t you start like that, Dad p>
Sandra gave Wendy a light smack on her forehead and said, “You didn’t let him speak? So, how could he tell p>
Wendy laughed awkwardly, scratching her ears. She murmured an apology, first to her parents, then to Dion, “Sorry, Prof. Everests, I made such a fuss and even dragged you here.” She was kind of ashamed.
“There is no fuss. Nothing is as important as Myra’s health and well-being,” Dion said, his words pregnant with deep meaning as he looked straight at Myra.
’Our mate looks healthy. All that holding back has somehow paid off, I guess,’ Drey spoke inside.
The truth was, after the incident, William had called Nora and told her not to come to the hospital for the time being. Of course, he didn’t say it directly. He disguised his words as a doctor’s strict instruction, “The doctor said Myra needs complete rest and no crowd. Sandra and I are taking turns to be with her. No one other than us are allowed. So, I would appreciate it if you~ he had hesitated.
Nora understood his meaning and complied, “Uncle Will, it’s okay. I understand. When Myra gets discharged, I will see her at your house. You focus on her recovery. In the meantime, I will take care of Wendy on your behalf.” She suggested.
