Chapter 471
*End OF The Flashback*
(Author’s POV)
“My own sister~… she betrayed me, in the worst possible way,” Amy spat out those words, her voice was now choked.
The sound of the machine’s beeping and Amy’s broken sobs filled the entire room. Myra glanced at their interconnected hands. She didn’t know how or when, but she had held onto Amy’s hands unconsciously at some point. She could feel her body shaking.
So far, from what Myra has heard and understood, Amy met the person~… ’the sperm provider’ during her high school days, fell in love with him. They became intimate, which then led her to an unexpected, young pregnancy. She didn’t want to give birth to the baby, a.k.a. Myra, which, as a woman myself, Myra could totally understand.
But what she couldn’t wrap her head around was why Amy gave birth then? What were the circumstances? She wanted to know~… but right now~… seeing Amy in such a hysterical state, Myra just couldn’t bring herself to utter anything.
Her mind was already filled with complicated thoughts. There was one more thing that had struck her~ The names~… Lia and Denver~… the ones she had seen in her dreams. ’So, it wasn’t just some random dream. It was a fragment of Amy’s memories. But how was I able to see that? I don’t know.’ It was a mystery for her.
To comfort Amy, Myra leaned forward. The movement made her body ache slightly. Still, she leaned and rubbed Amy’s back soothingly, without uttering a word.
In that moment, she probably couldn’t tell Amy that everything would be alright. Or everything is alright. She couldn’t pretend that she was not hurt at all. She still hasn’t heard the full extent of the story.
After a while, Amy’s sobs quietened as she pulled away. Her stained cheek, her now dry eyes~ she wanted to say more, but Myra was the one who broke the silence and said, “Maybe we can talk about this later. When you are okay.” She didn’t want to stress Amy out. Her own health wasn’t that good either.
Amy shook her head and muttered, “No~… I will tell you everything. I am sorry, I haven’t talked about this to anyone for a long while. I just~ she squeezed Myra’s hand, and Myra squeezed it back.
Clearing her voice, Amy started again, “After Vienna found out that I was going to have a child. She comforted me and said she would be there for me. She was my older sister after all, and at that time, I was in a vulnerable state, so I trusted her completely. On her instance, I set up a meeting with her and Denver. She said she wanted to meet him in person, to know what kind of guy I was dating. And of course, I agreed p>
As she was still speaking, her eyes were telling their own story. There was clear hurt and rage, and unspoken, pent-up frustration in them.
Meanwhile, she continued, “The first time they met, Vienna told me how great Denver was and how happy she was for me. I was glad she thought like that. I was happy my sister was supportive of our relationship. After that, the three of us met a couple of times. I had already told them about what the doctor had advised. After hearing that, they both wanted me to keep the baby. At first, I was firm on my decision. It was not because I hated you~… I assure you. I just wasn’t ready for it. But during the time I spent together with Denver, he would talk about the child from time to time. He said he respected my decision, but he wanted our bond to live, to grow, to prosper. When we were alone, Vienna would also tell me to just not abort the baby. That she would talk to our parents and explain it to them. That’s just to trust her wholeheartedly p>
“Their words, they got to my subconsciousness. I started feeling like I was a sinner for not wanting the child. And eventually, on the day of the scheduled doctor’s appointment, I gave in. When I saw expecting mothers, happy and eager, I couldn’t help but change my decision,” she said.
Myra stayed silent, letting Amy continue, “When I told them about my decision, they both were visibly happy. Denver promised me he would be the best partner and best dad. Vienna~… she called herself ’the godmother.’ After that, she helped me a lot with my morning sickness, appointments and everything else. She played her part perfectly p>
Her eyes started to form fresh tears, “But then, one day, when my first trimester was almost complete, I came home from school to a rather intense atmosphere. My parents and Lucas~… they all were sitting in the living room; their expressions were dark. Vienna was also there, standing with a guilty look. I knew in that instant that she had told them p>
“My mom asked, ’Is what Vienna told us true? Are you really~… pregnant with~ I didn’t let her complete and said, ’Mom~… I can explain~… I~ She didn’t give me any chance to say afterwards, just strutted towards me and stuck me hard. She had never even touched me like that, so I wasn’t expecting she would hit me so mercilessly. My dad rushed in my direction, and I thought he would at least understand, but he asked my mom to calm down. He looked at me with clear disgust in his eyes. I knew they would be shocked and angry, but I never thought they would be repulsed by me. I didn’t commit a crime. My mom~ she cried, telling me~… that I was a disappointment and what I have done is beyond repair. She refused to acknowledge me as her daughter and even refused to see my face, ever. I was hurt~… I never thought that this would lead to such a reaction. The people who loved me all my life had turned their backs on me. Dad didn’t say anything to me directly, but I could tell he shared the same sentiment as hers. Lucas too~… his eyes were full of contempt and accusations p>
“Just like that~… overnight, I was thrown out of my house. No one gave me any chance to listen, to explain. They just declared I was dirty and cheap. With no choice, I went to Denver’s place. He took me in without question. As for his parents, he told me they had gone overseas for his mother’s treatment. That they knew about my situation and had no problem p>
“In all those months, he took care of me like a baby. He didn’t let me suffer at all; he was always there for me at every turn, every obstacle. But when I tried to rejoin school, he said no~… that it wasn’t ideal. That it would be too exhausting p>
But he never told me the real reason.
