Chapter 383
(Author’s POV)
“Get out before I call the police,” Myra spoke, her hazels meeting his golden greens in a deadly stare.
Dion sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose, he mumbled, “There is something else I need to tell you as well, something really important. Please listen to that first p>
“I don’t want to know anything,” Myra was adamant as she declared. “Mr. Everests p>
“You would want to, Myra. Hear me out, at least,” he kept insisting.
“Mr. Everests, please~ I have already told you~ Myra spoke, but Dion cut her off midway, “I, Al, Rave and~ Nor, we would be staying at the Larson mansion for the time being p>
This time, Myra’s façade of composedness cracked. She froze, her phone slipping through her hands, but luckily, Dion grasped it in time.
Fabian’s name flashed across the display once again. He clenched his other fist, and before the ringtone could chime, he disconnected the call altogether, eventually switching it off.
Myra’s eyes fluttered, with a strained voice, she spoke, “But~ why p>
Placing her phone on the cabinet, Dion told her, “Mr. Larson is getting treated at his mansion. So~ his secretary asked us to stay there p>
Myra’s hands shook as she nodded. The room fell into utter silence as Dion observed her trembling lips. But she somehow managed to compose herself yet again, her face changing back to a stern expression, “I have heard what you said. Are you done, or is there anything else to add to it p>
“Do you really need to be so cold toward me~… towards us?” Dion queried. He could tell she was just trying to show a tough front.
“I made my intentions crystal clear last night, in your car. I have nothing more to say to you or to anyone else, Mr. Everests,” Myra took a firm stance.
Dion pursed his lips, his head lowered, his shoulders slumped. His slightly damp hair concealing his face. He seemed dejected. His whole demeanour screamed crestfallen. In that moment, Myra was struck with a guilty conscience. An uncomfortable feeling settled inside her chest.
She quickly looked away from him and muttered, “You can go now,” and turned. But she hadn’t taken even a full step when she felt his warm, yet wet hand clasping her wrist. She instinctively attempted to snatch her hand back, but Dion instead yanked her towards him.
Myra struggled. Any trace of remorse dying then and there, “Mr. Everests, what do you think you are doing?” Let go~ I said~ Let go p>
“Mr. Everests, Mr. Everests, Mr. Everests, don’t I have a name for goddess’ sake, huhh?” Dion said in frustration. It was unusual for him to lose his temper. “Myra~ I can tell you are hurting. It is written in your eyes. I can see it clearly. And! I know the reason why. I know what we have done to you cannot be atoned for so easily, but at least give me~… us a chance to set things right. We will do anything you want. Please~ give us a chance.” His voice turned into a mere pleading.
Myra propelled him; she had simply lost it at that moment, “You are saying~… you know how I am feeling.” She laughed hysterically, “You know nothing~… Dion Everests. You don’t know a fucking thing about me or my feelings. Don’t pretend p>
Pointing her finger at him, she poured out, “Do you have any idea what has happened to me because of getting involved with you, werewolves? Do you know what I had to face? Do you know, I was almost assaulted and killed because~ I got involved with your family. DO YOU EVEN KNOW p>
“Assaulted? killed?” Dion was left stupefied. These words triggered him deeply. As he was still holding her wrist, he could feel Myra’s intense emotions fluctuating wildly. “What are you saying, Myra? When did this happen? You were assaulted? When~ His eyes were blazing.
He tried to get close to her once again, but Myra stopped him with a hand gesture, “Stay away, goddammit. Stay away from me p>
“Ohk~ Ohk~ I won’t come closer. But explain to me about the assault and killing? When did this happen? I have~ I had no idea,” Dion spoke. He was flustered. His heart sank.
Myra shut her eyes, realizing, in the heat of the moment, she had said too much. After taking a moment, she said, her tone back to being distant and cold, “I don’t want to talk about it. If you don’t get out of my room now. I will really call the cops p>
“MYRA~ Dion was visibly desperate.
But she had no intention of relenting, “DION~ Please. Respect my boundaries.” Dion’s grip loosened, giving her the chance to pull her hand.
After saying her piece, she spun around and hastily walked towards the bathroom, shutting herself in.
Dion stared at the tightly shut door without blinking. His thoughts jumbled. The anguish in Myra’s words, the wretchedness in her hazel eyes, told him there was something more to it, the reason why Myra decided to vanish from their world completely.
With a last glance, he jumped out of her room. Drey, who was getting antsy inside him, spoke, ’Dio, where are you going? You should have pressed her, asked her about it p>
’She wouldn’t have said anything. I don’t want to hurt her anymore. I will have to look into it myself,’ Dion strode, his eyes blazing with determination and something unspeakable.
Meanwhile, inside the bathroom, Myra gazed at her own gaunt, tear stricken reflection. She tousled her hair frustratingly, ’I should have kept my emotions in control. I nearly told him p>
After washing her face, she peeked out, and thankfully, Dion had listened to her request this time. She glanced at the now shut window, and a profound sense of disquiet washed over her. She then walked towards the cabinet, where Dion had placed her phone earlier.
A small, cute animal printed bandage lay beside the device. She recalled the faint cut on her finger. She took her phone and the bandage and went back to her bed.
