Chapter 569 Golden Goose Had Taken The Bait

(Author’s POV)

“Don’t worry, her phone must have switched off. I will go and look for her at the engineering department building,” Myra said, her tone reassuring.

“Okay, I will wait for you two,” Wendy replied and ended the call.

Myra glanced at her phone, her fingers hovering at Brave’s contact number. Exhaling a sigh, she mumbled to herself, “First things first,” then stowed it back in her pocket and made a beeline towards Yelena’s department building.

After walking for ten minutes straight, just when she was about to step inside the building, a familiar voice called her name, “Hey Myra~ ….”

She swirled around, and her eyes flickered a little, “You~ … are~ ….”

“Long time no see, friend. Good to see you are up and about, hah. What? Don’t tell me you forgot me,” the person said, with a teasing grin etched on his lips. “That would be truly heartbreaking.”

Myra pursed her lips, her lashes fluttering, “Aa~ … Aa~mon, what~ … what are you doing here?”

“Classes, what else?” his remark landed casually. “You are here to find your friend, Yelena Yates, right?”

Myra’s brows wriggled, “How do you know her?”

“Don’t sound so suspicious. She and I share the same major after all,” Aamon replied. “Actually, today, something happened with her during the lecture,” his tone shifted serious.

“What happened?” Myra queried nervously.

“A bit of a heated confrontation with Prof. Westwood,” he answered.

“You are talking about Ashley Westwood?” Myra questioned. She recalled how Yelena had complained about that very professor’s rude behaviour towards her. He was always nitpicking her, passing comments now and then. ’Something must have happened for Yelena to retort,’ she thought.

“Ummhmm~ …. he said something about her family member, and after some brutal back and forth, she ran out of the class, seemingly upset,” he told her, emphasizing on the last two words.

Coincidentally, right at that moment, two students passed by talking amongst themselves, “Prof. Westwood is just too much. He shouldn’t have said such harsh words to her in front of the entire class.”

“We all know how cranky he is. Yelena was at fault as well. She should have suck it up, but no~ …. she went headfirst,” the other one replied. “And ended up dashing out of the class in tears.” She shook her head in disapproval.

“Anyways, I feel bad for her,” the first said.

Myra’s fists clenched, her blood boiling, hearing the gossip. She took out her phone and dialled her number, once, twice, but it remained unreachable.

Aamon leaned forward and murmured near her ear, “I might know where she is right now. I saw her running towards the back gates. Leading to the forest.”

Myra wasted no time and hurried in the said direction, her face filled with tension and her insides with raw anxiety. Aamon followed her, “It’s getting dark out there~ … I will come with you.” Seeing her back, a sinister, calculating smile made its way up his lips, ’ Easy peasy. The bait is finally set. The show is about to begin, my foolish little golden goose. Haha~.’ His expression turned sharp as he mumbled, “My delirious queen, tonight is going to be one hell of a ride. It will mark your return to your rightful place. Then, nothing will stop us from becoming one. No fucking thing. Together~ …. We will rule all of hell. Hahaha~ … bawahahahahha ….”

Covering her face with a mask, Elisa tried to make her way out of the mansion quietly amid heavily fortified security. After staying here for a while, she had memorized the blueprint of the place by heart. There was a concealed window in a cramped storage room near the servant quarters that would lead her straight out of the estate and into the dense forest, where Aamon had done all the necessary preparations. She just needed to get out of this place.

With her cleverness, she managed to beat every security personnel and reached the storage room without getting caught. Before entering the room, she carefully looked around, checking if, by chance, anyone had followed her or not.

After making sure, she twisted the doorknob and stepped inside, her steps light, careful. When she was shutting the door, a hand caught her doorframe, and the person forced himself in.

Elisa backed away, clearly caught off guard.

“Who are you? What are you doing here?” a commando from the keepers’ unit asked, his voice robotic and cold as ever.

“I~ …. I~ ….” Elisa fumbled. “I lost something~ … so I came here to check.”

He took another step towards her, “I order you to take your mask off.”

“I~ … I can’t,” she hesitated. “I can’t take it off.”

He quickly closed in the distance. Once he was just at arm’s length away, she took a special vial out of her pocket and sprayed it all over his face. The moment it hit his skin, he froze on the spot and dropped to the floor.

Elisa’s lips curved upwards, her eyebrows arched as well, shaking the vial bottle, “Good thing, I asked Aamon for this paralyzing serum in advance.” She then swiftly stood on a chair and jerked out of the window.

She stared at the orange, pink and purple hued sky, and a triumphant look flashed across her face, “Just a little longer, then the victory will be mine and mine alone. Everything will belong to me. EVERYTHING.”

“YELENA~~~~ …. YELENA~~~~ …. where are you?” Myra shouted, looking around. But no reply came back. “You said she came this way? Are you sure about it?” she asked, her steps never stopping.

“Dead sure,” Aamon replied. “There is a lake ahead. She definitely must be there.”

Due to the dense forest and the dusk having finally settled, the visibility had dropped. They were only able to see clearly because of their phone’s flashlight.

Myra felt uneasy and was a bit wary as well. She wanted to turn around, but soon a female’s sniffling, sobbing sound reached her ears. Without a second thought, she dashed towards the source of the voice, “It must be her.”

When she neared, she saw a girl crouched near the lake, facing her back. She was dressed just like Yelena. Myra called her name softly, “Yelena~ ….” But the figure didn’t turn around, nor did it reply. Just her sobbing intensified, and her shoulders were shaking. She placed a hand on her shoulder, “Yelena~ …. I am here.”

The shivering halted at once, and so did the crying as the surroundings fell into a pin drop silence. This made Myra even more nervous. She pivoted her around, and her eyes widened, “El~ … Elisa~ …. what~ …. What are you doing? Where is~ …. Yelena?”
