Calliope shared the news with Mavis, Portia, and her brothers. They were all thrilled for her, but also a little wary, worried that the Whites might turn out to be another version of the Jewells. They all assured her that if her new family ever mistreated her, they would have her back.

“I have my pride. Let’s just part on good terms. We can still be friends,” Calliope finished, forcing a smile to make it seem like she was fine.
Silas watched her, his expression unreadable as a long silence stretched between them.
“She’s not the one I’ve always loved. You’ve misunderstood,” he finally said, his voice low. “The person love has always been you, It’s been you for a very, very long time. Longer than you could possibly realize p>
“Callie he paused. “That room you mentioned… maybe you should go inside and see it for yourself. It’s not filled with her things p>
