Chapter 60:
“Stand down,” Jocelyn ordered. Her voice wasn’t loud, but it cut through the noise of the fans.
The guards hesitated. They glanced at Vincent, then at the woman who signed their paychecks now.
“She’s just a figurehead,” Vincent spat. “Grab the drive p>
One guard stepped forward.
“Take one more step,” Jocelyn said, holding up her phone, “and you’re fired for cause. No severance. No reference. And I’ll personally ensure you never work in security in New York again p>
The guard stopped. He looked at his partner. They both took a step back. Money talked louder than loyalty.
Jocelyn walked over to Harvey and held out her hand. “Give it to me p>
His hands were shaking so badly he nearly dropped it. Jocelyn took the drive, plugged it into the main terminal, and typed in her override code.

The screen flickered to life.
“What is this?” she asked.
“Corridor cam. Eighth floor. Last night,” Harvey panted.
Jocelyn scrubbed the footage back.
There it was. 9:15 PM. Aspen Schneider, supporting a stumbling Kieran Douglas.
But that wasn’t the smoking gun.
9:45 PM. A waiter pushing a room service cart stopped at the door. He looked around nervously, then entered the room and came out ten seconds later without the cart. Down the hall, Aspen met him and handed him a thick envelope.
“That waiter was fired for theft two weeks ago,” Harvey said, pointing at the screen. “I have the termination paperwork. He shouldn’t have even been in the building p>
Jocelyn turned to Vincent. The blood had drained from his face. He looked like a deflated balloon.
“You let them plant it,” Jocelyn whispered. “You let them compromise the hotel just to hurt me p>
“Kieran promised…” Vincent stammered. “He promised to refinance the debt if p>
“Get out.” A cold rage settled in her chest. “Go to your office and pack your things. If you’re not out of the building in ten minutes, I’m giving this footage to the police and adding ‘conspiracy to fabricate evidence’ to the list of charges p>
Vincent opened his mouth to argue, saw the look in her eyes, and closed it. He scurried out of the room like a cockroach exposed to light.
Jocelyn turned to Harvey. He was still sweating, wiping his forehead with his sleeve.
“You saved yourself, Harvey p>
“I… I just didn’t want to go to jail, Ms. Wolfe p>
“You’re still fired from HR,” Jocelyn said. Harvey slumped. “But the hotel has a lot of rot. I need someone who knows where all the bodies are buried and is more terrified of me than anyone else. I’m promoting you to Head of Security. You’ll report only to me p>
Harvey looked up, hope kindling in his eyes. “Head… of Security p>
“Keep the cameras running. Dig into every department’s financials. Find every ghost employee Vincent hired. Become my eyes and ears p>
“Yes, ma’am. Thank you, ma’am p>
Jocelyn pulled out the drive. She had the leverage now.
Her phone buzzed. It was Gaston.
Dinner tonight? I have a function. Need a plus one.
