It was past one in the morning. Zora always kept a regular sleep routine. She looked really tired after being woken up in the middle of the night.

This was a rare chance for Leighton to stay alone with Garrett, so the others left quietly to give them space.
Garrett would definitely be happy if he woke up and found Leighton had stayed with him all night.
Soon, only Leighton and Garrett were left in the room.

Leighton stared at his father’s pale, chapped lips. He stood up, grabbed a cup and some cotton swabs from the nightstand, dipped them in water, and gently wet Garrett’s lips.
He leaned over and looked down at the man lying in the hospital bed.
The bright, cold hospital lights shone down, showing every emotion in his eyes. He didn’t even try to hide his worry.
The night grew quiet.
Leighton stayed by the bed, stopping every few minutes to moisten Garrett’s lips.
Garrett was sleeping very deeply. The doctor said the illness had worn his body out.
Leighton turned his head when he heard soft footsteps by the door.
Zora walked out, wearing an extra coat over her clothes.

Zora had heard many people say Leighton and his father had a terrible relationship.
