Chapter 1051
It was just a single look, but it hit Bianca and Isabella like a hand closing around their throats. Their laughter died instantly.
That cold, dead-eyed stare sent a visceral chill through their bodies, freezing the smug expressions right off their faces.
It was a conditioned reflex by now-an instinctual, deep-seated terror of Serena.
“Did you forget what Graves just said? There are no cameras here.” Serena, of course, wasn’t about to correct their misconception.
She let out a low, breathless laugh. The sound was chilling, completely devoid of warmth or amusement.
Taking a slow, deliberate step forward, she closed the distance between them. “Where exactly do you find the courage to keep putting yourselves in my line of sight p>
Bianca’s face drained of color.
Both women instantly stumbled back two paces, their complexions turning a sickly, ashen gray.
They were genuinely terrified that Serena was going to beat them to death right then and there.
They had assumed that without cameras, and with Graves backing them, Serena was trapped. They thought they held all the cards and could torment her however they pleased.
But they hadn’t factored in just how terrifyingly capable Serena was in a physical confrontation.
Even Graves, a massive man, had been completely crippled under her heel. If Serena decided to turn her sights on them, they wouldn’t even have a chance to scream for help.
Unless they made enough noise to alert the federal security perimeter-but by the time the guards arrived, Serena could have easily snapped both their necks.
“Get out,” Serena said, the words dropping like ice.
Bianca and Isabella didn’t hesitate. They practically tripped over themselves as they turned and fled with their team in tow.
Lydia watched them run like terrified rabbits, feeling a brief surge of satisfaction: But as she turned back to the rumed dorm she let our heavy sigh. “Captain, are we really going to have to do our experiment while living in this nightmare p>
Serena slipped her hands into her pockets, her long legs carrying her away from the crumbling building. “Since this place isn’t fit for human habitation, we’re going to upgrade p>
The three of them blinked in surprise and hurried after her. “Captain, where else can we live p>
Serena smirked, her stride relaxed and brimming with a reckless, untamed confidence. “The best house on the island, obviously p>
“Someone currently has a broken leg and will find the stairs terribly inconvenient.
Out of the goodness of our hearts, we’re going to help him clear out p>
At the center of the island stood a stunning three-story modern villa.
It was the crown jewel of the island’s architecture. Facing the ocean, featuring massive floor-to-ceiling windows and bathed in brilliant sunlight, its location was flawless.
The interior was lavish, making even The Meridian Suites look cheap by comparison.
This was The Arbiter’s Residence-the exclusive domain of Chief Arbiter Graves.
At that moment, Graves was slouched on a plush sofa, his face livid as he spat a string of curses. “A goddamn college student! low dare she challenge the administration? She’s completely out of control p>
Sitting across from him were several burly, buzz-cut men in tactical gear.
The coffee table between them was loaded with fresh fruit, pastries, and an array of iced drinks and liquor.
“Howard, you were the reigning
combat champ in The Tactical
District How did some little girl
mess you up this badly?” one of the
men asked Staring in disbelief
at
Graves’ heavily casted leg.
Being analyzed like a circus freak only deepened Graves’ humiliation. He
instinctively tried to shift his ruined leg out of view.
