“I’m heading to my grandparents’ place. Take it easy and don’t push your luck,” Serena warned. She had a feeling the man named Rex was far from simple.

After leaving a few more instructions, Serena strolled out of the alley.
A heavily armed squad of men in black rushed past her, practically brushing her shoulder.
A few of the guards noticed her striking, exotic features, but they quickly looked away.
The young woman couldn’t be older than her early twenties-probably just an international student from Elyndor.
Unfazed, Serena blended seamlessly into the crowd with a relaxed expression. Following the address Catherine had given her, she hailed a cab and headed for the high-end nursing home where her grandparents lived.
Outside vehicles weren’t allowed inside the luxury facility’s grounds.
The cab dropped her off on a commercial street about half a mile away.
The avenue was lined with top-tier global luxury boutiques.
Serena swung by a specialty store to pick up a few tasteful gift boxes for the elderly couple before continuing her walk toward the nursing home.
After all, she hardly knew her grandparents.
Plus, it was obvious Isabella had already poisoned the well, badmouthing her to them every chance she got.
Giving them homemade herbal pills on their first meeting would probably backfire anyway.
She couldn’t be bothered to explain herself.
She’d wait for her mother to handle the introductions.
As she passed through the boutique district, she noticed a massive crowd gathering just ahead.
The onlookers were packed in tight.
Several people had their phones out, eagerly recording the scene.
Their faces were flushed with the morbid thrill of a public spectacle.
Whether they were from Elyndor or the United Realmon States, people everywhere loved drama.

The local pedestrians murmured among themselves, their words dripping with absolute apathy.
Not a single person stepped forward to offer aid.
Hearing the word Elyndor made Serena pause. She turned her head to look.
Through a gap in the dense crowd she caught a glimpse of an elegantly dressed elderly woman from Elyfidof writhing on the pavement, clutching her chest in agony.
The woman’s face was a sickening shade of purple, her lips bruised-looking and her breathing ragged.
It was a massive heart attack!
