Chapter 609
“My mom just called. She said my grandma suddenly fell at home, so I’m on my way to the airport. Isn’t Jess with your wife p>
Anneliese instantly frowned and couldn’t stop herself from cutting in. “Didn’t you see her? You were the one who invited her, yet you suddenly left and didn’t say anything to her? She’s not with me at all p>
A screech of brakes came from Zane’s side. “She hadn’t arrived yet when I left. I called her, but she didn’t pick up, so I sent a message. What happened p>
Anneliese wanted to know too. Right now, her anxiety and anger were tangled together.
Jonathan said, “Focus on driving. We’ll check the surveillance here p>
Then, he hung up immediately.
Anneliese followed Jonathan to find the manager, but before the surveillance could even be pulled up, the manager told them the police had just been there. He also mentioned that four girls had gotten into a conflict with another girl and were all taken away by the police. The manager had even snapped a photo.
When Anneliese saw the photo, she immediately spotted Gianna supporting someone and Jessica being escorted separately by an officer.
By the time they rushed to the nearby police station, Zane called again.
Jonathan answered.
“Did you find her?” Zane asked hastily.
Jonathan didn’t respond. Instead, he looked at Anneliese.
Anneliese was furious. There were no cameras in the restroom, but she could already guess what had happened.
Gianna definitely ganged up with her clique and targeted Jessica on purpose. After all, a domineering troublemaker like Gianna, who also liked Zane for years, anyone could guess her motives. She didn’t know why Zane would still call Jessica over when he knew that Gianna liked him.
If he was going to invite her, he should’ve handled things properly. But he just left. Even a simple
reminder to Joel or Carter to look
after dessica would’ve preventiet
this if he did any one of those things, Anneliese wouldn’t have waited so long without realizing Jessica was in trouble.
As she thought about it, anger surged through her body. Then, she snatched the phone right out of Jonathan’s hand and said, “Since you’re so busy, please continue being busy. Jess doesn’t need your fake concern Then she hung up immediately, tössed Jonathan’s phone back to him, and ran toward the police station.
Jonathan’s phone buzzed again right away. He glanced at the name and at Anneliese before declining the call.
He felt that it was better not to
intervene in this matter. After all, he
was still in the “probation period.” Anneliese got upset with him, her grandmother might easily persuade her. Thus, Jonathan decided to let Zane panic on his own since he did this to himself Besides Jonathan felt that the timing of Zanes mother calling him home tonight was a little too convenient.
As he thought about it, he quickly followed Anneliese into the police station.
From afar, sharp female voices cut through the air.
“My friend’s forehead is ruined! It’s definitely going to leave a scar! We refuse any settlement p>
“She was the one who hit first! She did it on purpose! Officer, does she have some kind of violent disorder? People like her are a danger to society, you can’t let her off p>
“Okay, no settlement. We’ll handle it strictly. Don’t worry, Ms. Malone, we’ll lock her up for at least three days and give her a proper lesson p>
A middle-aged officer stood before Gianna and her friends, his face full of ingratiating smiles and his hunched posture all but shouting that he was bowing to power.
Anneliese strode forward and said, “Did you even figure out what happened yet? How can you already be talking about punishing my friend p>
Her voice was filled with anger.
Hearing her voice, the officer talking to Gianna frowned and said, “Who are you? This is no place to cause trouble p>
When Gianna saw Anneliese, annoyance filled her eyes.
She had already pulled strings and synchronized their statements. She wasn’t worried at all and intended to teach Jessica a lesson. She wanted Jessica to stay locked inside the police station for a few days and see clearly just what kind of a nobody she was.
