“What? What are you talking about?” Selina’s heart skipped a beat, though her expression remained one of bewilderment.
She looked entirely innocent, yet Zacharias‘ gaze remained as cold and unyielding as ice.
“My mom and Lenora went to Anne’s grandma to tell her about our divorce. The shock was too much for her–she ended up in the ER. You were the only person I told about her being hospitalized. Are you seriously claiming you didn’t tell my mom and Lenora p>
Selina’s face instantly paled, her voice rising in alarm. “Wait, your mom and Lenora were detained because of this? ”
She rushed to sit beside Zacharias. “Zach, I did mention to your mom that Anne’s grandma was in the hospital, but it was just in passing. I never imagined it would spiral into something like this p>
She confessed without hesitation, her demeanor completely transparent and earnest.
Honestly, even if she had remained silent, Melody and Lenora would have inevitably spilled the truth.
She had only mentioned it in passing–nothing more.
As long as she insisted no harm was intended, blame seemed hardly fair.
“So it was you!” Zacharias‘ hand shot out, gripping her wrist with a force that made Selina gasp in pain, frustration, and anxiety mingling in her voice.
“I didn’t think it through! I don’t even know which hospital Anne’s grandma is at. And seriously -her grandma is in critical condition, can’t handle a little truth, and now she’s lashing out at everyone else? Is this really worth involving the police?
Zach, did you secure a lawyer for your mom and Lenora? I feel partially responsible. If you haven’t found someone capable, I could ask Christopher to assist p>
“No need. Anne already hired Zane. Christopher wouldn’t be of much help p>
Zacharias studied her for a few moments longer, then allowed his old impression of her to prevail–he believed she truly hadn’t intended any harm.
Selina was the sort of person who would secretly fund a stranger’s surgery or give away a scholarship without expecting recognition.

Selina retrieved a first–aid kit and an ice pack, kneeling on the couch to carefully tend to his wounds.
