Zacharias‘ gaze trembled with anguish. How could she remain unmoved? How could she be so unyielding, so cold? Was he truly beyond forgiveness?
He sprang to his feet, rushed forward, and seized Anneliese once more.

He even pressed her hand toward his chest, as if to let her feel the heart that threatened to break apart–proof of how deeply he meant it.
However, Anneliese wrenched herself free again, her voice cutting through the air like ice. “Enough, Zacharias. Don’t you understand? Hurt and regret never fade. What we lost can never be recovered. Stop clinging to me and making this uglier than it already is p>
She turned and walked toward the staircase.
Zacharias‘ face drained of color. The ring in his palm cut into his skin until it drew blood. His throat tightened; he closed his eyes briefly, then hurried a few steps after her.
“Anne, you and your grandma don’t need to leave. This was our marital home, and in the divorce, it should rightfully be yours. I’ll have my secretary draft an additional agreement. The Sunrise Residence will be included in the settlement, and I’ll make sure the deed is transferred to you quickly p>
Anneliese paused, surprised. She turned back to study him, wondering what scheme he was playing at.
The villa wasn’t particularly large, nor was it among the most coveted in Oceaton, but its location in the city meant its value had only climbed.
At the very least, it was worth twenty to thirty million.
And now Zacharias, after spending so much effort restoring and renovating it, was actually preparing to sign it over to her?

Yet when she looked around and thought of Zacharias still living here, she felt only disgust.
She arched her brow. “Fine. Then, have the supplemental agreement sent over today. We’ll transfer the deed in the next couple of days p>
The moment she accepted, Zacharias let out a breath of relief. He convinced himself she was softer than she appeared, that deep down she also longed for what they once had.
Less than an hour after he left, Jackie arrived with the supplemental agreement already signed by Zacharias.
When he saw Anneliese again, Jackie’s expression was complicated.
In the past, he had looked down on her, thinking she was nothing more than Zacharias‘ shadow, a woman too desperate to ever let him go.
He had never imagined that when Anneliese said divorce, she meant it. She had even maneuvered carefully to make sure it happened.
And once it was over, she walked away clean, without hesitation.
It was Zacharias who had fallen apart, stumbling through his days in a fog, lost and broken.
Because of his foul moods and increasingly uncontrollable temper, Jackie himself had been living in constant turmoil.
“Mrs. Shaw, please come back,” he pleaded. “Mr. Shaw truly can’t live without you. His stomach condition has worsened, and every night he depends on sleeping pills just to get some rest. He really can’t go on without you p>
Anneliese signed her name quickly, handed the agreement back to Jackie, and ignored his words.
“Make sure the transfer is completed within the next two days. And about the 500 million- tomorrow is the final deadline. Remind Mr. Shaw not to forget. Otherwise, I’ll have to sue. If word gets out and people think Clauderias Tech is facing a cash flow problem, Mr. Shaw could find himself chased down by the courts, and that wouldn’t end well p>
Jackie was speechless.

When a woman was determined, there really was nothing a man could do.
After he left, Anneliese went upstairs.
She called to arrange Nishay’s hospital stay and scheduled her surgery.

Once the property certificate for the villa was in hand, she planned to take Nishay straight to the hospital.
When Nishay woke from her nap, Anneliese told her that Zacharias was away on a business trip.
Nishay frowned, remarking how strange it was that the couple always seemed to be traveling separately. She wondered aloud how they could possibly be preparing for a baby this way. A few vague answers from Anneliese were enough to brush aside her suspicions.
That night, Anneliese stayed with Nishay in the guest bedroom of the Sunrise Residence.
They talked for a long time, until Nishay drifted off to sleep. Anneliese, however, lay wide awake, unable to rest.
She tossed and turned, afraid of waking Nishay, until at last, she slipped out of bed with her phone in hand.
There were no calls or WhatsApp messages from Jonathan.
Wrapped in a blanket, she curled up on the living room sofa, scrolling through her phone for a while. In the end, she couldn’t resist sending him a message.

The other end remained silent. Anneliese didn’t know whether he hadn’t seen it, or whether he was simply too occupied to reply.
