Anneliese huffed, ready to retort, when a loud bang hit the car window. The sound made her jump. After everything that had happened that day, she was on edge every time someone knocked on the window. She instinctively ducked into Jonathan’s arms, thinking, Please don’t tell me that crazy Selina’s back again.
When she turned and saw who it was, her cheeks flushed bright red. She quickly dove under Jonathan’s suit jacket to hide.
He glanced down at the girl hiding in his arms, amusement flickering in his eyes. As the traffic officer raised his hand to knock again, Jonathan rolled down the window.
The officer didn’t react to the couple cuddled up in the back seat-he’d seen plenty on the job. What caught his attention was the man’s commanding presence and striking, refined looks. He was clearly no ordinary person, though that didn’t excuse parking violations.
