How this Alpha understood me like the back of his hand. It infuriated me to no end.
My hands itched to grab his shirt and press him against me. To quench that burning sensation between my legs.
It was bad enough that I’d found him irresistible, and now he continued to seduce me.
How long would it be before I fell so deeply in love with him that he consumed me completely, leaving nothing behind?
A knock on the window saved me from further embarrassment: Olfi had brought our ramen. Since the glass was one-way, I was glad no one could see us.
Smirking, Alpha Kane straightened up and said, “We’ll continue this conversation at the packhouse p>
I sighed and exhaled loudly, trying to calm myself and my racing heart.
Olfi handed Alpha Kane the ramen bowls, arranged on elegant plates. Opening the food tray in front of my seat, Alpha Kane placed my bowl on it. The intoxicating aroma of ramen, with all its deliciousness, made my mouth water and my stomach rumble.
“Can you handle it? Or can I help you?” Alpha Kane offered, placing his bowl on the extendable tray. Taking the napkins, he first spread one over my legs, repeating the same on his own.
“I can handle it.” My arms barely hurt now.
Olfi stayed outside, guarding us while we ate ramen. While I was enjoying my noodles with boiled eggs, nori, and green onions, I stole a glance at Alpha Kane.
He simply stared at the dish, fork in hand, as if debating whether to eat it or throw it out the window. He had such a serious expression, as if he were in a life-or-death situation.
The poor guy was suffering, and suffering terribly.
“Not a fan?” I asked with a hint of irony, taking a sip of the spicy noodles.
“Poison, these noodles are poison to me.” As always, Alpha didn’t hold back or mince words. Just because he was doing it for me didn’t mean he had to be careful.
“I thought you were a Naruto fan,” I added, deliberately jabbing him with my right elbow.
“That doesn’t mean I approve of what he ate. He drank expired milk.” Alpha wrinkled his nose in disgust, and I felt genuinely sorry for him.
I wanted him to eat with me, but I didn’t know he hated ramen noodles. If he’d given me a hint, I would have chosen something he really liked. Another lesson learned, and important information gained.
“Just eat the egg; it’s good for you. I’ll take the rest,” I offered sympathetically, patting his shoulder like forged steel.
Alpha turned his head in my direction, gratitude oozing from his eyes. “Really? But I promised p>
I smiled, putting my folk away. “We wanted to enjoy the meal together, not upset you. Tomorrow we’ll try something else, and you can tell me whether you’ll eat it or not p>
Alpha nodded quickly and grabbed the egg. Bringing it closer, he began to bite. For such a huge man, he seemed to be enjoying his food slowly. I finished my spicy plate, the spiciness literally bringing tears to my eyes.
But damn! I savored every last drop. After draining mine, I grabbed Alpha’s plate and downed that too.
He watched silently, not making any comments.
’He was so obsessed with health and fitness, and deep down, I always believed that one day he’d ask us to go to the gym or watch my calories.’ Nova chuckled.
’Andy did that, sometimes suggesting I go to the gym. He must have always hated my body.’ I rolled my eyes.
’But Alpha understood that I was my own person. He never… One time, he asked me to give up.’ I told my wolf.
’He called us beautiful when he saw us naked, and always made sure we were well-fed.’ Nova amused.
’What more could a girl want from a man?’ I agree with Nova.
“Did you like it?” Alpha Kane took the napkin, watching me finish the second plate.
“More than you could imagine,” I replied, looking very pleased.
He leaned toward me, raised his hand, and slowly wiped the last remnants of ramen broth from my lips. He took his time, as if he was enjoying it immensely.
“Well, since I’m already without dinner, I’ll eat you tonight,” Alpha added, just as smoothly as Alpha had.
I opened my mouth, but no sound came out.
Alpha handed the bowls back to Olfie so he could return them while I recovered and considered my answer.
“About that, I don’t think it’s a good idea p>
Alpha turned to me abruptly, slightly confused.
“Why? You didn’t like it last time? Or did I do something wrong p>
Oh! No, handsome, you did everything right, too right, and now I can’t get you out of my head.
“You didn’t do anything wrong, but let’s just leave it at that.” My heart pounded as my gaze slid into his eyes.
’What was he thinking?’ Nova rolled her eyes.
’Was he disappointed?’ I am curious.
Olfie returned to the car, but before he could get behind the wheel, Alpha Kane turned to him and commanded,
“Take a taxi, I’ll drive.” The poor guy quickly got out of the car and, nodding, walked away. Alpha Kane unbuckled his seatbelt and did the same with mine. “Come here, sit in the front with me. We need to talk p>
My heart sank. He seemed disappointed by my words. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to sleep with him.
On the contrary, I felt like if I slept with him again, I’d fall hopelessly in love with him. And that was impossible.
Alpha Kane had seen this for himself many times, and I knew he didn’t love me.
Olfi opened the door for me and made sure I was comfortable in the front seat. He closed the door and left.
Alpha leaned toward me, letting me inhale his fresh scent. It didn’t help at all. I wanted to bury my nose in his soft hair while he buckled me in.
When he moved away and started the car, I exhaled. He was gripping the steering wheel too tightly; I could see the veins sticking out of his hands like blue rivulets of molten sapphire.
“Stop staring at his hand,” Nova scolded me.
