We soon reached the pharmacy, and Kaysir immediately opened the door for me. As I walked out, I wrapped my shawl tightly around myself and grabbed my purse.
“Can I come in?” Kaysir asked, closing the door.
“No, it’ll only take a minute.” I didn’t want him to see me buy a pregnancy test. I walked forward, the snow crunching under my shoes.
Kaysir walked me to the pharmacy and held the door, but didn’t follow me inside. I wandered around the store for a while, buying calcium supplements, and then, finally, two pregnancy tests.
My heart was pounding, and my hands were shaking just thinking about what I was doing.
“It’s just a precaution,” I reminded myself. “It can’t be, I’m pregnant p>
Filling my lungs with oxygen, I cautiously approached the counter. I was greeted by a girl with red hair and a gentle smile. I smiled back and handed her the bottle of calcium supplements and the pregnancy tests.
Without a word, she scanned them and told me the quantity. Putting them in a paper bag, she handed them to me.
“Thank you!” I said warmly, and she smiled again. I paid with my card and tucked the paper bag into my purse before heading out.
Kaysir was waiting for me. “Home?” he asked, and I nodded.
We returned very quickly, and I noticed Alpha pacing the living room while Camilla, his human worker in the office, sat quietly, sipping tea and eating lemon tarts.
Alpha’s wild eyes lit up when he saw my return, as if I’d been gone for days.
“Zara! I’m glad you’re back. He was going crazy,” Camilla heartily exclaimed.
She laughed, enjoying his suffering.
“No. I didn’t want her to go alone,” Alpha quickly tried to justify himself, looking stunned.
“I just needed some fresh air after being cooped up inside because of the storm,” I snorted. My eyes met his sharp features, and I immediately wondered how he would react if he found out I was pregnant.
Which I didn’t know, but various scenarios kept popping into my head.
“Don’t mind him, he likes to control the lives of those he loves,” Camilla dismissed it as if it meant nothing. “Come on, let’s have some tea and eat these delicious cakes,” she invited me.
“Actually, I need to go to the bathroom urgently. Save some for me.” I smiled at her, but I had a sinking feeling in my stomach.
“Of course, go ahead.” Leaving Alpha and Camilla downstairs, I went upstairs. Putting my bag in the closet so Alpha wouldn’t see it, I grabbed one of the kits and, taking off my shawl, headed to the bathroom.
The kit contained a plastic cup, gloves, and a swab. Putting on the gloves, I took the cup and urinated into it. Then, taking the swab, I dipped it into the half-filled cup until I reached the black mark on the swab.
Removing the swab, I held it in my hand and placed it on the sink. Stepping away, I threw away the urine and the cup.
The instructions said 30 seconds, and I knew those 30 seconds would be the longest of my life. For the next few seconds, the only sound echoing in my ears was my heartbeat. I washed my face and checked the test.
Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath and picked it up. There should have been one red line.

Two clear red lines stared mockingly at me. My cold hands were shaking so badly that I dropped the test to the floor and stepped back, stifling a scream.
PREGNANT??? With a royal heir, who will rule over werewolves and Demons? Heir to my demon father and for the Alpha Kane Sterling.
How could I be? It’s too early.
This had to be a mistake. Maybe the test was faulty. They’re not always accurate.
Right? Panic gripped every muscle in my body, as if an anaconda had wrapped itself around me. My breathing became ragged, and even in winter, sweat trickled down my temples and back.
Placing my hand over my racing heart, I tried to comprehend what was happening. Without success.
“I need to redo the test.” With that thought in my mind, I quickly washed my hands and ran out of the bathroom to get a second kit.
At that moment, I was fighting back tears, overcome with emotion. Grabbing the second kit from the package, I repeated the procedure with the remaining fluid in my body. Trembling and shaking, I checked the second test strip, but the result was the same.
Two clear red lines made me dizzy, and I had to grab the sink to keep from falling.
Tears welled up in my eyes and streamed down my cheeks, completely blurring my vision as I sobbed. I held onto the marble sink with my hands.
In the last few months, I’ve had sex with Alpha Kane. But I took the pill within 24 hours of intercourse. So how did I get pregnant?
How was I going to give birth to a child without my interest? My heart sank in pain, and I clutched it with my left hand and stood up straight. My right hand pressed protectively to my stomach, where life had already begun.
I sobbed, my body trembled, my throat constricted so tightly I couldn’t breathe. Panic, the truth, and the reality of this situation were sinking in. I’d been so caught up in enjoying life that I’d forgotten the consequences of my actions, and now I was faced with them.
What should I do? How should I tell Alpha about this? My gut instinct told me I was pregnant after having sex with Kane.
I raised my hand to the faucet, and warm water gushed out. Filling my palms, I splashed it on my tear-stained face. I couldn’t go outside looking so awful; I had to be strong to survive this storm.
