Chapter 1004
Isabella quickly grabbed Bianca’s arm. “Bianca, there are only ten minutes left. We
have to focus on answering the questions and getting our score back up. If we keep wasting time, we’re going to fall below the cutoff p>
“What do you mean, waste time?” Bianca violently shoved Isabella away, her eyes vicious and glaring. “They used an illegal hack to drain our points! As long as the organizers investigate, our score will be reinstated p>
Isabella opened her mouth to argue, but another teammate spoke up softly. “Isabella is right. We don’t have time to argue with them. We need to secure our placement first p>
Isabella shot Bianca a deeply frustrated look.
She truly couldn’t understand how someone born into a family as twisted as the Doyles could be this painfully stupid.
“Let’s get back to answering questions. Whether we get those points back or not, we need to stabilize our current score,” Isabella commanded.
The rest of the team scrambled back to their keyboards.
But no matter how fast they typed, they couldn’t outpace the speed at which their points were draining.
Bianca was losing her mind, her face turning green with rage.
She aggressively signaled the referee with her eyes.
His face shifted between pale and flushed. Out of sheer panic, he reached into his pocket for his red card. “Hope Initiative, the organizers suspect you of maliciously destroying the balance of the match. Your actions severely impact the integrity of this event. I am hereby p>
He didn’t get to finish.
The red card stayed in his pocket.
Serena leaned back slightly, her cold, luminous eyes locking onto him with a detached laziness.
“Try pulling that out p>
She was just sitting there casually, but the oppressive, predatory weight of an absolute ruler crashed down on the entire room.
She stared him down, her voice freezing. “If you dare pull out any penalty card, I will immediately contest the fairness of this entire event p>
“I will request the international Organizing Committee to intervene p>
“Do you honestly think you, or Dreamscape Alpha, can survive an investigation p>
The official’s hand froze inside his pocket.
Cold sweat rolled down his temples.
Could they survive an investigation?
Of course not!
Even though it was highly unlikely that a broke college student could actually summon the Organizing Committee, what if she did?
If they actually launched a probe, it wouldn’t just be the Doyle family going down.
His career as a referee would be instantly annihilated.
He swallowed hard, his trembling hand slowly slipping out of his
pocket, empty. “The match will net
continue! All disputes will.
after the timer ends!” Contented
Bianca looked like her eyes were going to pop out of her skull. She nearly screamed his name in frustration, but he avoided her gaze entirely.
The final few minutes were pure chaos for Dreamscape Alpha.
The team frantically mashed their keyboards, trying to patch the firewall and answer questions.
But Serena’s code was on an entirely different dimensional plane.
Against her assault, all defense was futile.
No matter what they tried to block or patch, they couldn’t stop the devastating,
unstoppable hemorrhage of their points.
The final whistle blew.
The match was over.
The giant screen locked the final results.
First Place: Marington College – The Hope Initiative, 8,590 points.
It was a complete landslide.
They were a full three thousand points ahead of second place.
As for Dreamscape Alpha p>
Their score had been bled down to a single sliver of health.
They had landed exactly on the very last qualifying spot. One point less, and they would have been eliminated.
But for a team that started at the
peak to be dragged into the mud et
and forced to scrape by on the bottom that humiliation was far worse than a simple elimination.
Which was, of course, exactly what Serena had intended.
