Chapter 1077
The route Serena and her team took didn’t look like an abandoned cliffside zone at
all.
Instead, it led straight to the most central location on the island.
They finally stopped in front of a white, two-story building.
Swiped a card, and walked in.
Adrian froze for a moment before quickening his pace to follow them.
He saw a striking sign hanging at the entrance of the two-story building: Apex Research Hub.
Adrian turned his head and grabbed the collar of Chief Arbiter Howard Graves, who had finally caught up while leaning on his crutches. “What is the meaning of this?” Adrian demanded through gritted teeth. “Didn’t you say Serena’s lab was in the most remote, abandoned part of the island p>
Even if he didn’t understand the technicalities.
He could tell that this Apex Research Hub had to be the best laboratory on the entire island.
How could Serena… possibly have access to the island’s finest facility?
Grabbed roughly by the collar, Howard was immediately hit by the greasy scent radiating from Adrian.
Howard’s face scrunched up in agony. He turned his head slightly, looking
completely miserable. “Well, you see… Contestant Serena did place first in the team competition, so… so p>
“Don’t give me that garbage. Do you really think I don’t know what the Doyle family arranged?” Adrian snapped furiously.
It was exactly because he thought Serena was in a desperate situation.
That he had traveled all this way to play the savior.
But now p>
Serena was leading her team into the best lab to conduct their research.
What did that make his actions today?
Was he just making a fool of himself?
Howard looked utterly defeated.
He had been beaten into submission by a contestant, and it was far too humiliating to say out loud.
Sensing there was more to the story,
Adrian suddenly released grace
collar and glanced down at t man’s cast-covered leg.
His somber gaze narrowed slightly. “Don’t tell me Serena did that to your leg p>
Howard looked mortified.
He stammered for a long while before finally forcing the words out. “Mr. Cole, when all the contestants first arrived on the island, The Hope Initiative was indeed assigned to the bungalows and the old lab in Sector Delta. But Contestant Serena raised an objection, so… so now, they are staying in my quarters p>
“As for this Apex Research Hub, it’s the highest-tier lab on the island, originally reserved før guest
academics. But now… it’s been given to The Hope Initiative p>
Adrian was speechless.
So, on her very first day on the island, Serena had simply commandeered the Chief
Arbiter’s quarters.
And traded up to the Apex Research Hub?
She was never in the dire straits he had imagined.
Nor did she need his patronizing charity.
No wonder… no wonder she had treated him with such disdain earlier.
No wonder she had been so unyielding.
Adrian’s face cycled through shades of pale and red, feeling as if he had just been slapped across the face.
He clenched his fists, staring at the laboratory.
Although he was a guest inspector and lacked the clearance to enter the contestants’ research areas.
His status did grant him the privilege of standing outside and observing from the perimeter.
The team was likely still laughing at the joke he had made of himself earlier.
Muffled laughter echoed from within.
They hadn’t shut the door completely when they went inside.
Adrian had a clear view of part of the laboratory’s interior.
