“But what?” Rupert asked impatiently.
“Heavy snowfall began shortly after Annabel went into the mountain. Today, news came that an avalanche occurred in the same area. I haven’t been able to get in touch with Annabel, and the snow blocked the only path she could take to reach Chayce. I’m afraid something must have happened to her since I can’t reach her p>
Rupert’s grip on the phone tightened as he absorbed the information. Annabel had gone all the way to Chilly Mountain to find Chayce for his grandfather and had encountered an avalanche.
