Rupert and Candace left the hospital together and got into Rupert’s car. The driver took them to the Water Moon Community.
Along the way, Candace held Rupert’s arm and leaned against him.
“Ron…” she began softly. “Since I’m moving into your place… do you think Annabel will be angry at me p>
She turned her head to watch him closely, studying his reaction. She mentioned Annabel on purpose, wanting to see what his face would reveal.
Rupert had his head lowered, focused on his phone as he texted someone. But when he heard Candace’s question, his expression shifted.
“Why would she be angry at you?” he said flatly. “I have nothing to do with her now. You can stay there as long as you need. And if I’m not too busy at the company, I’ll come back often to see you p>
Candace nodded eagerly. Satisfied with Rupert’s answer, she sat back quietly, asking no more questions. A triumphant smile crept across her face.
It seemed Rupert didn’t care about Annabel anymore.
Soon, the car arrived at the gate of Water Moon Community. Candace followed Rupert inside the house and looked around in awe at the luxurious furnishings.
Rupert set Candace’s luggage beside the wardrobe in the hallway and said, “You’ll be staying here from now on. The room on the left is your bedroom. I’ll have someone move the rest of your things over p>
“Thank you, Ron,” Candace said with a shy smile.
But her happiness didn’t last.

The words caught in her throat as her eyes landed on Rupert and Candace standing side by side in the living room. Rupert’s hand was gently stroking Candace’s head.
Candace turned at the familiar voice. When she saw Annabel, her eyes widened in surprise. “Annabel? Why are you here p>

Hearing Candace’s question, she strode in without hesitation. She looked Candace up and down with cold disdain and said, “Why can’t I be here? I’m the legitimate daughter-in-law of the Benton family. That’s a far better position than being a shameless woman who tries to ruin someone else’s relationship p>
Her voice sharpened as she continued, “Besides, my things are still here, and I have the keys to this house. So why can’t I come to my own home? Do I need your permission to walk through the door? What gives you the nerve to question me p>
Annabel let out a cold snort, her gaze full of contempt as it swept over Candace again.
A few moments earlier, Annabel had received a message from Rupert—and that was the real reason she was here.

Rupert said nothing. He only looked at Annabel with a dark, sullen expression, lips pressed into a thin line.
