The school was located outside the village, and the mountain path was rough and narrow. With so many of them, they had to walk in single file. Annabel was still holding Nia’s hand, so she moved more carefully.
After nearly an hour, they finally reached the school gate.
“Here we are! This is the school!” Anika exclaimed, her voice trembling with excitement. Her eyes were full of hope. Jared, you have to hold on, she pleaded silently.
The situation in the village had been dire, and the school was no better.
When they entered the grounds, they saw multiple buildings collapsed into rubble.
