“It’s true!” Cathy eagerly handed her the phone. “Grandpa was discharged today, and Rupert had Annabel thrown out of the ward p>
Erica stared at the screen. In the photo, Annabel was being escorted away by security guards.
“It’s because of Candace,” Erica said, narrowing her eyes. She disliked Candace almost as much as Annabel. In her mind, Rupert’s future wife should be intelligent and cultured—someone from a prominent family, like Heather.
“Auntie, now that Rupert and Annabel aren’t together anymore, will he finally let us out of here?” Cathy asked. Just thinking about Rupert made her chest tighten.
Despite her unwavering devotion, he wouldn’t even spare her a glance. Even as a child, Rupert had never warmed up to her.
That was why she had gone so far as to poison Bruce and frame Annabel. In the end, she failed.
Annabel had outplayed her—and Rupert had placed her under house arrest.

She had assumed Rupert’s anger was temporary. They were his family, after all. She thought he would release them after a few days once he cooled off. Not to mention, Erica was his mother.

“I have an idea.” Erica’s expression shifted, as if a sudden realization had struck her.

After eating with Bruce, Rupert stood up. “I have to go now, Grandpa. I need to take care of something at the company p>
Bruce nodded. “Don’t push yourself too hard. Take care of yourself p>
“Yes, Grandpa,” Rupert replied. With that, he headed out of the house.
Bruce smiled as he watched Rupert’s car drive away.
Although Rupert was a workaholic, he still made time to be with Bruce, and that brought the old man a great deal of joy.
