After dressing, Anika picked up her bag and walked out. She was overwhelmed and didn’t want to see Marcel. Seeing him would only make everything more confusing.
At the hospital, Anika took care of Jared in a haze, her mind far away.
Although Jared had been cold to Anika ever since he was transferred from the hotel to the hospital, he still cared about her.

No one could see how shattered she was behind those words. She was devastated, yet she fought down the urge to cry.
Jared stayed silent, seeming to accept it.
“Miss, Miss Astle is here,” the butler said after answering the door. He turned and informed Bella, who was lounging on the sofa with a magazine.

Sure enough, her guess was right.
Heather’s foolishness made Bella laugh inwardly. Bella lowered her gaze, a faint, barely noticeable sneer tugging at her lips.
