“Mr. Benton, did you plan everything that happened at this engagement ceremony today?”
“Miss Hewitt, were all those public arguments between you and Mr. Benton part of your plan?”
“Mr. Benton, in reality you were never in love with Candace or planning to get engaged to her, right?”
“That’s correct.” Rupert nodded, his gaze fixed on Annabel. Then he smiled and added, “I’ve only ever loved one woman, and that’s Annabel. And I won’t be engaged to anyone else but her.”
His words were clear enough—he was telling the whole world that Annabel was the only woman he would ever love.
Hearing him say it so firmly, Annabel couldn’t stop a faint blush from creeping onto her cheeks.
Why would he say that now, in front of so many people?
“Rupert, stop it,” Annabel murmured, glaring at him.
The moment the words left her mouth, Rupert leaned in and kissed her on the forehead.
Thunderous applause broke out across the hall. Today was supposed to be Rupert and Candace’s engagement ceremony, yet against all odds, Rupert had used it to publicly declare his love for Annabel.
Annabel’s face burned with embarrassment. She quickly pushed Rupert back.
The journalists, unwilling to miss a second, snapped photos nonstop. Flashes went off in rapid bursts, capturing the romantic moment from every angle.

In a corner of the hall, Cathy sat rigidly in her seat, staring at Annabel onstage with undisguised jealousy.
