Rupert and Annabel said a polite goodbye and began exploring the old, familiar area. Even though they had been here before, returning made everything feel fresh and exciting.
Before long, Annabel grew tired, so they went to a nearby restaurant for dinner. When it was time for the Ferris wheel to open, Rupert and Annabel returned to the amusement park.
The moment they walked through the gates, Annabel’s whole demeanor changed—as if her inner child had come alive. She looked delighted by everything around her, and the smile on her face never faded. With the Ferris wheel operating again, Rupert helped her into one of the cabins.
The Ferris wheel began to move slowly. As their cabin rose higher, dazzling fireworks suddenly bloomed across the night sky.
Annabel was instantly captivated. She turned to the window, eyes wide with wonder. “The fireworks are so beautiful.”
Rupert watched her in profile, a soft smile on his face. “They are pretty,” he whispered, “but I think you’re much more beautiful.”
“Huh? Did you say something?” Annabel asked, not catching his words. She only heard him speaking, so she turned to him, puzzled.

But just as she opened her mouth, Rupert suddenly cupped her face in both hands and kissed her.
At that exact moment, their cabin reached the top of the Ferris wheel.
This kiss was different from the ones before—gentle, eager, and overflowing with warmth and passion. Heat crept up Annabel’s ears, and it took them a long moment to finally pull apart.
Rupert held Annabel’s hand tightly and looked into her eyes with solemn intensity. “Annabel, I want you to know that I’ll love you for the rest of my life, and I will never let you down.”
Annabel looked back at him with a warm smile, tears gathering in her eyes.
“I feel the same,” she said softly. “And I trust you.”
In that moment, the two of them felt closer than ever.
By the time they left the amusement park, it was already nine in the evening. When they returned to the villa, Annabel dropped onto the couch, completely exhausted. It was rare to see her like that.
“I’m really tired, but I had a great time today,” Annabel sighed.
“Of course. We did a lot today,” Rupert said. “Are you hungry? I noticed you didn’t eat much at the restaurant earlier. I’ll make something for you in the kitchen.”
