After Elena left, Marcel sat on the edge of Anika’s bed and held her hand.
Staring at her pale face, he noticed how haggard she looked.
“How much have you suffered?” he whispered.
Just thinking about what she had endured made him feel sick with anger and helplessness. Suddenly, he stood and walked to the window in the corner. He took out his phone and called his assistant.
“Hello. I’m at the hospital right now. Tell the director I won’t be there until later… A fan pushed Anika, and she almost lost the baby. I need you to…”
“…issue a statement for me. I’ll send you the contents later. Have the team help me edit it and get it posted.”
After Marcel hung up, he glanced back at Anika, still asleep, and let out a long sigh. She had suffered so much because of him, and he was determined to make it up to her from now on.
