Anneliese’s weak body rolled across the floor like a rag, with no strength left to fight back.
Jameson pressed down on her again, grinning as he lowered his head.

With a few loud kicks, the door burst open. Jameson looked up in shock.
A tall figure stepped in from the hallway light.
His face wasn’t clear, but his whole presence gave off a dangerous, threatening energy.
Jameson froze in fear and let go of Anneliese.

Before he could finish, a heavy kick sent him flying.
He crashed into a cabinet and hit the ground hard.
The moment Jonathan came in, he saw what was happening on the floor. His usually calm face finally broke.
He didn’t look at Anneliese for long. His eyes locked straight on Jameson.
He pulled off his suit jacket and tossed it over Anneliese, covering her, then slowly took off his
watch.
He pressed the watch against his knuckles, clenched his fist, and walked toward Jameson.
Bang, bang, bang!
Each punch landed heavy and solid. Jameson couldn’t even scream. Blood filled his nose and
mouth.
When Jonathan finally stepped back, the face of the broken Patek Philippe was smeared with blood, dripping down.

He knelt beside her and reached out, but just as his hand touched her, a pair of pale hands shot out from under the jacket.
A sharp blade flashed from her fingers and cut at him.
Jonathan’s hand was slashed before he could react.
He moved quickly, grabbed her wrist, and pulled her up into his arms.
Her palms were torn and bleeding from gripping the blade. Pain flickered in his eyes.
His voice dropped low as he looked at her, trying to calm her.

Anneliese’s eyes were blurry and unfocused. The pain kept her barely conscious.
Her wet lashes trembled, as if she was struggling to recognize him.
“I’m Jonathan.” He leaned closer so she could see his face.
His voice was soft and steady.
She didn’t know if she really recognized him, or if his tone simply calmed her down.
Her tense body slowly relaxed.
Jonathan stroked her trembling back, a faint smile on his lips.
His thumb brushed the inside of her wrist, feeling her fast pulse. He spoke again.
“Trust me, I won’t hurt you. You’re already hurt. Let go, okay p>
Maybe it was his patience, but Anneliese finally loosened her grip. The bloody blade slipped to the carpet.
Her arms went limp, and he caught them gently in his hands.
He lifted her hands to his lips and blew softly over them.

Anneliese stared blankly at him. Then she turned her face into his chest, brushing against him
