Anneliese suddenly felt a wave of fear and uncertainty. Without even thinking, she tried to pull her hand from Jonathan’s, but he instantly squeezed her hand tighter, intertwining their fingers.

With that, he ignored Elizabeth’s dark expression and strode out of the private room, all while holding Anneliese’s hand.
He walked so fast that Anneliese had to jog to keep up. As soon as they stepped outside, she spotted the butler leaning against the wall, clutching his leg, looking like he was hurt.
When he saw them come out, he shrank back even further, clearly trying not to be noticed.
Anneliese was silent the whole way as Jonathan led her out of the café. He only let go to let her get into the passenger seat, then walked around to get in the driver’s side.
