As he recalled the past days, he was certain Anneliese had started acting strangely ever since that day she had come to the office.
He remembered it clearly–she had shown up at the company while he was in the office with Christopher, talking about the past. The thought that she might have overheard their conversation, that she might already know the truth, made his face go pale and his chest tighten with unease.
“Mr. Shaw…” Jackie followed Zacharias inside and had just opened his mouth to speak, but with a sharp crash, Zacharias hurled the tablet across the room.
It shattered into pieces, and Jackie shut his mouth at once, sweat dripping heavily from his forehead. He had already watched the surveillance. That day, Annelise hadn’t gone to the terrace to take a call before reaching the office door at all.
She had lingered right outside for quite some time.
He didn’t know what exactly Zacharias and Christopher had been discussing that Anneliese might have overheard, but Jackie instinctively felt something serious was about to explode. Sure enough, Zacharias flew into a rage the moment he saw the footage.
Jackie had worked under Zacharias for years, yet never once had he seen him lose control like this. He lowered his head, not daring to breathe too loudly.

“Mr. Shaw … could Madam already know about Coral p>

Zacharias yanked at his tie, forcing himself to calm down as he sat behind his desk, his gaze cold and cutting as it landed on Jackie.
“Since Madam already knew that day, yet has acted as if nothing happened all this time, that means she never intended to expose you, nor leave you. If you coax her well, she won’t stay angry for long.
“Didn’t she just pick out a suit and tie for you today? That shows she’s been waiting for you to come home p>
Jackie’s words reached Zacharias like medicine soothing his raw nerves.

He closed his eyes briefly, conceding that Jackie made sense. As long as he put in the effort to make it up to her, how could Anneliese not forgive him?

Jackie hesitated.
“Useless!” Zacharias snapped again, his anger flaring.

“I don’t want excuses. That ring must be found! And if it can’t be, can’t you think of something else? Have another one made identical to it–do I have to spell it out for you p>
“Yes, sir. I’ll arrange it immediately.” Jackie answered quickly and turned to leave.
But Zacharias stopped him again, ordering him to prepare several pieces of jewelry and purses, then order a massive bouquet of flowers. Jackie was to bring them along when they returned together to Sunrise Residence.
Just as he pushed open the office door, Jackie froze–there stood Coral, masked, walking toward them.
“Mr. Septian, is Mr. Shaw inside p>
She made to step past him, but Jackie blocked her way. “Mr. Shaw’s in no mood right now. He won’t want to see you p>
Coral’s stomach sank. She had gone back to the dorm with her roommates, but the more she thought, the more uneasy she grew.
She had called Zacharias over and over, and he hadn’t picked up once. Anxious and afraid, she chased him all the way to the company.
Zacharias didn’t go after Anneliese – he came back to the company. Doesn’t that mean he doesn’t really
care that much about her?
“Move aside. I brought something for Mr. Shaw. He never said I couldn’t come in, so who are you to stop me?” Coral refused to leave.
Her raised voice drew glances from the secretaries nearby. Jackie, worried Zacharias would erupt again, was about to drag her away when a cold voice came from inside. “Let her in p>
Delight flashed across Coral’s face. She shot Jackie a smug look before pushing the door open with her chin lifted high.

“Idiot,” Jackie muttered under his breath, watching her back. From the look on Zacharias‘ face earlier, Anneliese certainly mattered, even if it was only to a certain degree.
He had stopped Coral for her own good, but if she insisted on throwing herself into the fire, no one could save her.
“Zacharias, I was worried about your face, so I bought ointment and ice packs for the swelling and bruises. Let me take care of you right now p>
Coral pulled off her mask, revealing the swollen half of her face as she approached him. She paid no mind to her own injury–her only concern was Zacharias.
Unlike Anneliese, who had humiliated him in public, she wanted him to see how thoughtful and obedient she was, how much she cared for him.
