Zacharias arrived just as chaos reached its peak. Melody and Lenora stumbled toward him, knees wobbling, tears all over their faces. “Zacharias, thank God you’re here… Call the police! Anneliese tried to kill us–she’s dangerous!” Melody wailed. “Zach, she came after us with a needle from an AIDS patient! What do we do? Please–get a doctor for me and Mom!” Lenora’s voice cracked in sheer terror.
His expression darkened when his gaze fell on the bloody scratches marring their faces. He spun to Anneliese. “Are you insane?” he barked. But before he could say more, she was already moving. Without a word, she whipped up the syringe and slashed at him. He flinched, throwing up his arm to protect his face. The needle raked across the back of his hand, leaving a thin but stinging wound.
