While the doctor went over the X-rays and explained Mrs. Goodwin’s condition, Jessica stood beside them, completely distracted.

She had been feeling nauseous lately, but until the elder mentioned it, she hadn’t even considered the possibility.

her to it.

Anneliese snatched them back and stuffed them into the cabinet. “Just in case, you know? If a friend or coworker visits, they’ll have something to wear p>
Thankfully, her grandmother only nodded, seeming not to think much of it.
Anneliese explained that she’d bought the apartment with money from her divorce settlement, and Nishay believed her. After showing her around, Nishay, tired from the trip, went to lie down and rest.
That night, Anneliese sprawled across the large bed. It should’ve felt comfortable, yet the room felt unbearably empty and cold. She realized she’d already grown used
