She patted Candace on the shoulder and added, “Hey, Candy, you’re the one with the most potential out of all of us. Look at you now—such a sophisticated lady. Just don’t forget about us!”
“That’s right,” another woman said quickly. “Candace, you’ve really changed. You’re so much more knowledgeable now that you’re with Mr. Benton. If you know any single rich guys, do us a favor and introduce us to them. We’re true friends, after all!”

“Come on,” Amy finally cut in, sounding both amused and annoyed after listening for a while. She nudged the women away from Candace and said, “Think before you talk. Tonight is Candy’s engagement party, so can you all please be more serious? We’re still in the salon—people can see and hear everything we’re saying.”
