The person who had rushed into the office was Margo. She strode in quickly, but the instant she noticed Rupert, she straightened and stiffened. “Mr. Benton… you’re here too p>
As she spoke, she swallowed nervously. She’d heard stories about Rupert’s temperament, and now that she was facing him in person, she didn’t even dare meet his eyes.
Rupert’s expression darkened again.
Margo was the reason Annabel had been so busy these past few days, and he had no intention of hiding his displeasure. Feeling his obvious hostility, Margo grew frightened and immediately looked to Annabel for help.
“There, there. You don’t have to be angry anymore,” Annabel said, trying to placate Rupert.
But Rupert turned and walked out.
Annabel could only stare as he disappeared down the corridor, speechless. She had no idea why he was acting like that.
Somehow, she felt his attitude had everything to do with jealousy. Even so, she hadn’t expected a man to be jealous this deeply. Thinking that, Annabel shook her head in helpless disbelief.
“Annabel, what’s wrong with Mr. Benton?” Margo asked, tears nearly spilling over. She had clearly felt Rupert’s anger toward her, and the thought that he might be upset because she had interrupted a private moment terrified her.
The more she thought about it, the more frightened she became. If a man as powerful as Rupert held a grudge against her, she was finished.
“It’s fine. Don’t worry about it,” Annabel reassured her absentmindedly. Then she looked at Margo with curiosity. “What brings you here p>
“Um… well, Dunn’s parents found out we’re staying at the company, and they came here p>
Annabel arched a brow in surprise. She hadn’t expected they’d been discovered so quickly.
