Chapter 769:
June hung up and copied the video and the pregnancy certificate onto an encrypted USB drive. This was her ultimate weapon for her visit to Susan in federal prison tomorrow.
Easton came in from the kitchen carrying a heated sandwich. He saw June turning the USB drive slowly between her fingers and felt the change in the air—something cold and deliberate and very nearly done.
June looked up at him, her eyes lit with the focused glow of someone who can see the finish line. “The Beasley family’s internal collapse begins tomorrow p>
Outside, the Manhattan rain had finally stopped. But a storm that would tear the Beasley family apart forever was already taking shape in the palm of June’s hand.
Dawn broke over Long Island. A desolate silence hung over Beasley Manor. The once-immaculate lawns had turned brown and overgrown, the gardener’s bills having gone unpaid for months.
Alycia sat in the empty living room wearing a wrinkled silk nightgown, clutching a cup of cold black coffee in her shaking hands, her eyes bloodshot. She had not slept since fleeing the hospital, her nerves stretched to breaking point, waiting for the moment police would burst through the door.
A car engine cut through the silence, tires crunching up the driveway. The electronic beep of the security code followed, then the click of the front door lock.
Alycia jumped to her feet. The coffee cup dropped from her hands and shattered on the carpet, dark liquid spreading across the floor. She was certain the police had come.
But the man who walked through the door was not a policeman. It was Richard Beasley, wearing an expensive custom suit, his face glowing with an unseemly joy.
He didn’t glance at Alycia. Instead, he turned and, with an attentive, almost servile gesture, carefully helped a woman over the threshold.
Lexi. She was wearing an ostentatious Chanel maternity dress, oversized sunglasses covering half her face, a limited edition Hermès Birkin bag hanging from one arm. She removed the sunglasses and surveyed the mansion with a slow, predatory gaze, her eyes finally settling on the disheveled figure of Alycia.

Alycia’s mouth fell open. She pointed, her voice cracking with shock. “What is this woman doing in my house p>
Richard’s face darkened instantly. He crossed the room to Alycia and told her sharply to watch her language.
“Lexi is pregnant,” he announced, his voice swelling with pride, as though he were proclaiming the founding of a dynasty. “With a boy. She is the new mistress of this house p>
The words struck Alycia like a physical blow. She stood motionless, her mind unable to process the absurdity of what she had just heard.
Lexi let out a small, delicate gasp and pressed herself behind Richard, one hand fluttering to her flat stomach. “Oh, darling, your daughter is looking at me so strangely. She’s going to frighten the baby p>
Richard immediately wrapped a protective arm around Lexi’s waist and turned to look at his own daughter with undisguised contempt.
Alycia screamed and lunged forward, reaching for Lexi’s face. “This is a scam! She’s after your money! She’s not pregnant p>
