The amusement in her eyes was warm, but it faded slightly as realization dawned on her.
Ezra wasn’t being serious.
He was looking for an excuse.
A very obvious excuse.
The Alpha asks without the slightest hint of hesitation. “Are you really pushing me away already?” His voice was calm, but there was something beneath it that immediately tugged at her heart. “How much longer do you plan to stay in Lunera? A few more days? If you genuinely don’t want me here, Lylah, I’ll go. But after everything that’s happened, don’t expect me to be happy about leaving you behind p>
The words sounded reasonable enough.
Unfortunately, his expression ruined the effect completely. It reminded her suspiciously of a pup waiting for permission.
It was absurd.
Completely unfair.
And alarmingly effective.
