Katie didn’t stop her and followed immediately.
Annabel glanced at the needle on the floor, picked it up, and pushed it back into the IV bottle to keep the fluid from spilling everywhere.
Annabel had stopped Anika earlier because she knew Katie was desperate about Marcel. It was the perfect moment to force a compromise. Otherwise, how would Anika ever be able to stay by Marcel’s side with Katie constantly standing in the way?
It was the perfect chance to help Anika, and Katie wouldn’t dare make things difficult for her in the future.
Since Annabel had successfully completed her mission, it was time for her to retreat.

Rupert was busy working on the North Bay amusement park project while Annabel stayed by his side, watching him and talking to him from time to time.
“Rupert, could you reconsider the location of the amusement park? Maybe it should be closer to the high-speed rail station. That way, it would also be nearer to downtown, and tourists could access it more easily,” Annabel suggested.

Rupert pinched her cheek affectionately. “What do you want to eat, then? To compensate you for your hard work, I’ll double your reward.”
“Hm…” Annabel pretended to think carefully, then demanded like a spoiled child, “Japanese food!”
Rupert didn’t even look up. “There’s salmon and sashimi in the fridge. Go make something for yourself.”

Annabel puffed up, then immediately recovered with exaggerated confidence. “Fine. Wait just a moment. Your special order from Chef Hewitt will be ready in a jiffy!”
She waltzed into the kitchen, opened the fridge, stared at the neatly packed sashimi, and sighed dramatically. “What a luxurious life. Stocking sashimi worth at least ten grand in the fridge… Mr. Benton, you really do have deep pockets.”
Busy in the kitchen, she pulled on gloves and began working. When she turned around, she saw Rupert walking in with his laptop. He sat in the corner, his eyes fixed on her with an intense, quiet focus.
Their gazes met, and they both smiled. Even though each of them was occupied, they kept each other company.
Annabel worked unhurriedly, slicing the fish into thin, clean pieces with a sharp knife. She arranged everything neatly on a platter, and soon the food was ready.
“Mr. Benton,” she announced, “dinner is served.”
Annabel placed the sushi and sashimi in front of Rupert. He took a bite, nodded, and said with a smile, “Hmm, it’s delicious!”
“If you like it, have more.” Annabel began feeding him.
After he finished the entire plate, she stretched out her palm toward him.
