She said it on purpose, a bright smile on her face. The only times she could completely relax and truly be herself were when she was with her friends and Rupert.
“What are you talking about, Leo? Don’t be ridiculous. There’s no need to be so polite with us. This studio belongs to you and Anika. In other words, we work for you.”
“Yes, that’s right, Leo. Don’t talk to us like we’re strangers, okay? We’d love to see you every day. Actually, we wish you wouldn’t go back to your country and would return to the studio for good.”
Annabel was touched by their words, though she didn’t comment.
Each of them comforted her in their own way. Some pretended to be angry with her, while others joked around. Annabel couldn’t help laughing, warm and unrestrained.
True friends were the ones who treated you with sincerity, no matter what.
“By the way, Chana…” Annabel suddenly set her pen down and turned around. “Once I’ve finished the dress, I might need you to send it to the competition office for me. I’ll text you the time tomorrow, just in case it slips your mind.”
With a smile, Chana snapped her fingers and nodded. “No worries. It won’t be the first time I’ve delivered clothes to a competition. I’ve done it plenty of times before. Rest assured, I won’t forget.”
Annabel nodded, then turned to the others with a smile. “Alright, everyone, back to work. I’ll be leaving soon.”
Half an hour later, Annabel had finished what she needed to do. She gave Chana the exact time she planned to head out. Unexpectedly, the moment she walked out of the office, she spotted a familiar figure near the door.
It was Talia.
Why was she here?
Annabel’s brows knit slightly, but she quickly returned to her usual calm expression when Talia looked her way.

In fact, Talia had been waiting by the door for quite some time. Yet the moment Annabel stepped out of the studio, Talia put on a cool façade as if she had just arrived, her eyes widening with feigned surprise.

“Annabel, what a coincidence. We meet again,” Talia said the moment she spotted her.
Annabel offered a polite smile. Of course she knew Talia well. It wasn’t Talia’s first time putting on a show. The only advantage was that Annabel knew exactly how to play along.
“Yeah, you can say that again,” Annabel replied lightly. “By the way, what brings you here?”
“Well, to tell you the truth, my job bored me to death, so I quit. Nothing ever felt right. I want to travel abroad. I heard the clothes designed by this studio are excellent, so I decided to come have someone design a dress for me. Who wouldn’t want nice clothes, after all?” Talia tilted her head, studying Annabel with obvious curiosity. “What about you? What are you doing here?”
