Bruce chimed in, “Don’t worry, Leonard. I watched Rupert grow into the man he is today. He’s not a bad person. But if he ever hurts Anna, I won’t show him any mercy p>
Leonard snorted, though there was no real anger in it. “Rupert may be a good man, but Anna is my granddaughter. Can’t I be worried that she’s marrying your grandson so soon p>
“Alright, you two, stop arguing.” Annabel stepped in, half amused and half helpless. “I’m doing well with Rupert. You genuinely have nothing to worry about p>
Suddenly, Bruce facepalmed. “I didn’t know you two were coming today, so I didn’t ask the servants to make your favorite food p>
He stood up to call for a servant, but Annabel stopped him. Her voice was gentle. “It’s okay, Bruce. Don’t trouble Daryl and the others. Rupert and I don’t get to come here often, so let us cook for you today p>
Leonard and Bruce exchanged a glance, then nodded in unison.
It took them two hours to finish. Together, they made six dishes and a soup. By the time the food was ready, the two elderly men had already left the study and were waiting in the dining room.
They smiled and laughed through the entire meal.
“Anna is an amazing cook. I think I just had the best meal of my life,” Bruce declared, looking livelier than he had in a long time.

Annabel’s and Rupert’s eyes widened with disbelief and suspicion. They rented out several bedrooms? How was that even possible?

He turned to Annabel after the butler left. “Anna, I know you and Rupert aren’t married yet, but it can’t be helped. Sleep in the same room as him just for tonight, alright? You’re going to be family soon anyway p>
