“Sign the contract, Jase, or I’m leaving,” I said, my voice glacial. I stood and grabbed my purse.
Jase’s Alpha pride snapped. He lunged across the space, his large hand clamping down on my wrist with bone-crushing force.
“You don’t walk away from me!” he snarled, his Inner Wolf roaring with humiliated rage. He yanked me forward, dragging me violently toward the secluded VIP room at the back of the restaurant.
Panic flared, but my survival instinct was faster. As he pulled me into the shadows of the hallway, my free hand slipped into my purse, my fingers wrapping tightly around the cold, heavy hilt of my father’s silver-bladed letter opener.

Jase hurled me into the private dining room with terrifying force. I stumbled, my heels catching on the thick Persian rug, as the heavy mahogany door slammed shut behind us. The lock clicked into place with a sickening, final thud.
The secluded room was instantly suffocated by the aggressive, sour metallic ozone of his scent. My hand was still buried in my purse, my fingers desperately gripping the cold silver hilt of my father’s letter opener — but before I could draw the blade, Jase lunged.
He pinned me hard against the wood-paneled wall, his large hands trapping my shoulders.
“You think you’re untouchable now?” Jase sneered, his bloodshot eyes wild with a toxic, humiliated rage. “You think the Lycan King actually wants a defective, wolfless Omega? You’re nothing but a prop, Adelina. And I am going to ruin you until you have nothing left but me p>
I didn’t cower. The terrified girl he used to control was dead. I drove my knee upward, burying it directly into his groin with every ounce of strength I possessed.
Jase let out a strangled gasp and doubled over, his grip on my shoulders faltering. But the pain only ignited his wounded Alpha pride into pure, unadulterated violence. He recovered faster than I could run. With a feral snarl, he backhanded me.
The crack of the blow was sharp and immediate.
The sheer force snapped my head to the side. My cheek burned with a blinding, white-hot agony, and I stumbled backward, my vision blurring as the metallic taste of blood flooded my mouth.
